Reminder: Safe and Warm Dismissal
Student safety is always a high priority at Buffett. We want student arrival and dismissal to be safe and warm. As the days get darker sooner and with the frigid winter temperatures, we wanted to provide you with a few reminders about our after-school and departure procedures:
- All students are required to leave campus by 3:15 P.M. as the school day ends at 3:05 P.M. Students who are under the supervision of an adult may be in the building after 3:15 P.M.
- Students who wait for ride must be picked up by 3:15 P.M. and students who walk home must depart by 3:15 P.M.
- There is no waiting area in or outside of the school building as there are no adult supervisors.
- Parents will be notified when their student is on campus after 3:15 P.M.
- Effective January 29, 2018, parents are required to enter the building and check their students out after 3:15 P.M. due to the lack of supervision. This will ensure the accountability of our students.
- After-school athletics and activities procedures stays the same.

Supporting Your Child in Middle School Math
from PBS Parents
Below are some useful tips on how you can support your child in math:
- Always have notes from class, a textbook or other resources right next to a homework paper. If your child is stuck, he/she is likely to find a similar problem in one of the resources that can help you move forward.
- Ensure the student takes responsibility for her own learning by finding assistance independently; the ability to access help on your own is essential for student success in all areas of academics.
- Never just, give the answer to problems! By giving answers, you are depriving your child of the chance to develop the mental processes required to learn a new concept. Work through the problem with your child when he/she is having difficulty.
- The most important thing to convey to your children is not to give up. Mathematical concepts are intricate and take time to grasp.
