Ms. Schreiner's class does not have PE next week.

Math and Science

Math-We have been working on geometry: lines, angles, rays, and quadrangles. Students have been told that they need their Student Reference Book (SRB for short) at home to help them with their homework!

Science- we have been working on states and properties of matter.

We could use some paper towel donations for our science class! We tend to get messy with our experiments!

Reading and Social Studies

We finished our first novel study, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. The students took a reading comprehension quiz and a standards-based quiz on Friday.

On Tuesday we will begin our next novel study, Because of Winn-Dixie. The skills we will be working on are theme, character traits, and grammar skills such as the four types of sentences.

We will really be working hard on our writing this year. The fourth grade has a list of writing non-negotiables that must be followed each time the student writes, regardless of the class it is in. You can find a copy of these on the class website. Starting in a few weeks, work that breaks a non-negotiable will be returned to be fixed.

Notes from the teacher

T-Shirt forms were due today. If you did not send that back, please email us with the size shirt your student needs so we can get it ordered next week.

We sent home Camp Carlisle permission slips this week. We have given plenty of time for those to be returned due to the extra expenses. Please have them back by September 16th.

Fourth grade hosts the Back to School Dance/Social. We can use many volunteers and donations of 2-liters! Please send in 2-liters as soon as possible, and if you are interested in helping out at the dance, please contact your homeroom teacher (background check needed on file). Permission slips to go are due no later than THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

We have started our beginning of the year benchmarking in reading and math. Information and results will be going home in the next few weeks.
