Principal's Message
I am wishing Track 1 staff a happy track out! Welcome back to Track 2 staff. This week we are continuing our work that is aligned to the School Improvement Plan.
- The school implements a tiered instructional system that allows teachers to deliver evidence based instruction aligned with the individual needs of students across all tiers.
- All teachers are attentive to students’ emotional states, guide students in managing their emotions, & arrange for supports & interventions when necessary.
- All teachers employ effective classroom management, reinforce classroom rules and procedures by positively teaching them.
During the staff meeting we will take a closer look at WCPSS 3 Tiered Instruction/Intervention Flow Chart. We will explain each tier and discuss practices that should be in place throughout each tier. Our Case Managers will discuss their roles in supporting PLTs with conversations about students needing additional support. They will model a Kid Talk process for the staff.
If you have not already, please complete Jordan's needs assessment/counseling survey. This will help her tailor her schedule to respond to the needs of our students. The survey is linked here.
Thank you to all staff that has used the discipline form for student behavior incidents. We will share the data with staff at the faculty meeting. The discipline form is linked here.
Kayla and I would like to extend a special shout out to Ben Schoenebeck for getting his National Board Certification! We are proud of this exciting accomplishment.
Announcements/Staff Information
Attention New Staff Members
Lifetouch will be on campus December 11th in the Media Center. All new staff members should come in between 9:15 and 10:30. If you were not a member of the PUE team when Lifetouch came for fall pictures, mark your calendar to be photographed. These are yearbook photos.
Global Update
There is no Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) for December. Our SDG focus for Global Education for January is Health & Well-being. Please visit the PUE Global Site for resources and ideas. The Global Committee has asked that as a school we will:
- After several lessons introducing Health and Wellbeing, all students at PUE will develop a New Year's Resolution around the SDG of Health and Wellbeing.
- Teachers should display these resolutions creatively in the hallways so it sends a schoolwide message that our focus is on becoming healthier, as a school unit.
- There will also be an opportunity to have students create cards for children in the hospital. Health and wellbeing is more than just physical. Supporting each other and reaching out in kindness does a lot for our mental wellbeing!
In PLT, please collaborate to plan lessons centered around health and well-being.
Each grade level should discuss a process for allowing students to name their Panther that we adopted from our Pennies for Panther Drive in October.
Professional Development Plan (PDP)
Every teacher should update your PDP no later than January 31. Kiley and Kayla will email staff to set up times to meet.
Please lead your team to go through the pre-linked course list on the global site to get to their Participate Courses.
Midyear PDP requires two courses and two actions.
Accident Forms
Please see this memo regarding the procedures for student/visitor accidents.
Building/Facility Needs
Please complete this survey with input about campus improvements.
Floors at PUE
The floors (carpet and tile) will be done December 14 & 15. No later than Friday afternoon, personal items must be taken home and laptops/technology must be secured. The crew will start moving furniture late Friday evening.
Lost & Found
We will put the items in the front hallway starting on Monday December 9th. All items that remain on Thursday December 19th will be donated. Teachers, please stop your classes by the front hallway while out in the building for specials or lunch. This way students will have an opportunity to take a look.
