We will not be dismissing students from the office after 3:15. If you arrive after 3:15, please go through the carline or wait until the carline is finished.

We are also NOT allowing walk-ups before OR after school. You must park at a numbered signed in the morning and drive through the carline in the afternoon. Your students may also walk home. You may not park in one of the lots or on the street and walk up to the front door.

We want to make sure students and parents are safe as well as keep that area clear for emergency situations.

From the Nurse:

Just in time for warmer weather (hopefully) we are going to focus on healthy hydration and healthy snack options that can be found on our website link https://www.sps.org/Page/4154

Healthy vs. Non-Healthy Drinks – posted from the Health Services Wellness page on the SPS Website

Your child’s body needs water to maintain the best hydration levels.

Wearing masks on a daily basis increases your child’s chances of dehydration due to the lack of drinking water. Our district has closed off the drinking fountains due to COVID restrictions. We do have water bottle spouts to allow students and staff to fill their water bottles with filtered water throughout the day. Please be sure your child is coming to school EVERYDAY with a water bottle in hand as this is the only way they are able to take a drink of water throughout the day, by taking a drink from their personal water bottle.

Alternatives other than water - Juice and milk offer the best ingredients to help keep your body healthy.

Drinks that are NOT RECOMMENDED for school-age children include energy drinks and drinks that have ingredients such as high fructose syrup, caffeine, taurine and or guarana. When combined with some medications, these drinks can be life threatening. Most energy drinks are not approved by the food and drug administration.

Furthermore, Energy drinks have increasingly become a source of caffeine overdoses, according to a comprehensive study published in Pediatrics. Too much of these stimulants and chemicals can cause dependence, dehydration, insomnia, heart palpitations and/or an increased heart rate in both children and adults.

Please help keep your children in a safe learning environment on a daily basis by not sending soda/energy drinks to school with your child for breakfast or lunch. Thank you.
