Principal's Post
Crooked Lake Families,
Thank you so much for coming out to conferences, and meeting with teachers to partner for the school year. We had a great turn out, and that will set the year up for success.
We got beautiful weather for the community picnic, and it was so fun to see former students coming back to see their teachers, and enjoy the event. It was a perfect night to connect, and wrap up our school spirit week and fundraiser. Thank you to our PTO, and families for all of efforts that contributed to its success.
We have another opportunity coming up this coming Thursday, from 4:30 to 6:30 at Eveland Farms in Andover. Looking forward to seeing you there.
If you haven't already, we wanted to give a reminder to families to go to A-H connect and put in, or verify your credentials. This is done on a yearly basis, and is necessary to have all of the pertinent and up to date information on your child's information and contacts. Please see the directions below.
Take care,
Sam Anderson

Reedy's Report
Hello Crooked Lake,
The school year is in full swing, and the leaves are starting to change. If you need additional school supplies or warmer fall clothing for your children, please let me know. We have received generous donations from the community and are happy to share.
As the daylight gets shorter and the honeymoon period of the school year fades, you might start to notice changes in your kids. They may exhibit more behaviors or be moodier than usual. This is a normal part of the school year process. However, if these changes overwhelm your child or your family, please tell your kid’s classroom teacher or other staff in the building. We will assess the situation and see if there is a need for any additional support.
You should have received a brochure from an organization called Every Meal. They provide free food for students to take home over the weekend and on holidays. This service is entirely confidential and completely free. If you would like to sign up, either return the completed brochure or give me a call.
Similarly, if you have not applied for free or reduced lunch, please do so. You might be surprised who qualifies. However, if you do qualify, you will not only save money, but you will also help the school receive additional funding. This funding could mean other staff to better support our students. To complete an application online, please visit www.ahschools.us/freereduced.
Finally, if you are grappling with mental health issues, please tell someone at the school, a loved one, or call 988. If you want, someone will be there to talk and find you services. If it’s an emergency, please call 911.
· If you have immediate concerns for the physical safety of a friend, a family member, or yourself, call 911.

Nurse's News
Welcome back to a new school year! Things are looking a lot different this year. In regards to Covid. Covid is now treated like all other illnesses; as long as a student has not had vomiting, diarrhea or fever (without fever reducing medication on board) for 24 hours they may return to school. If they have cold symptoms, they may also come to school as long as they are feeling well enough to participate.
Students also are no longer required to wear masks if they have Covid or are returning from a Covid illness. We do not need a negative test for a student to return. If you have any questions please visit https://www.ahschools.us/safeandopen. Also feel free to reach out to the health office at 763-506-2104 for any further questions.

Hey Crooked Lake Families!
Breakfast and lunch will no longer be free for all students. To purchase breakfast or lunch, students will need to have money in their accounts. A breakfast meal is $1.50 and a lunch meal is $2.55. Parents are able to put money in their child’s lunch account online. This can be done by clicking on “Fees” with your “My Student Information” account. If you feel you are eligible for free or reduced breakfast/lunch, please complete the required application forms to determine eligibility. You can find information about the application process on the district’s nutrition website.
Thanks!

Volunteer Voice
Crooked Lake has 86 volunteers and this number continues to grow each day! Volunteers have donated 96 hours in the month of September. The hours donated were spent helping our little learners familiarize themselves with lunchroom routines, completing various projects for our teachers, shelving books in the media center and working on letter recognition with small groups. Thank you to our AMAZING volunteers! Your contribution to our school is a precious gift to our students and staff!
I encourage you to complete the volunteer application and criminal history record release to stay updated on opportunities and be involved in your school. Below is a list of current volunteer opportunities at Crooked Lake Elementary.

Transportation App: FirstView
Attention Crooked Lake Families! There is an app called FirstView! This app enables families to get real-time information on regular bus routes - in the palm of your hand! Features include email, push, and text notifications of any route changes.
Simply download FirstView from your device's app store. On-screen directions walk first-time users through the easy set-up process. Choose Minnesota and then Anoka-Hennepin from the drop-down menus. After doing so, the app will direct you to A-HConnect. Log in with your parent/guardian username and password (if you've forgotten your parent/guardian username or password, please call 763-506-HELP), the app will then automatically populate your student's information.
