Lunch Visitor Info

We are so happy to have lunch visitors!! Please note that New Hope does have a no outside food policy which is designed to support the Forsyth County School's Wellness Policy. Parents and guests are always welcomed as customers of the school’s nutrition program to eat with their student in the cafeteria. We hope to see you soon!

Afternoon Transportation Changes

By now, you have shared with your teacher how your student(s) will be going home each day. If you ever need to change your child's afternoon transportation, either temporarily or permanently, please complete the online form located here and also on our website under the Quick Links section. Our office staff monitors all submissions and notifies teachers directly of any changes made. Changes must be made before 1pm.

Please do not send a handwritten note regarding a transportation change to school with your child. These are sometimes misplaced in their backpack or not given to the teacher by the student. Additionally, emails sent directly to the teacher during instruction time regarding transportation changes may not be seen prior to dismissal.

Any question, please contact khays44@forsyth.k12.ga.us

Early Check Outs

If you need to check your child out of school early for a doctor or dentist appointment, please come to the front office with your photo ID. Please remember that our latest check out time is 1:45. Let's Get Moving!

Let's show the other elementary schools just how amazing our Nighthawks are! All Nighthawk families are invited to join the New Hope iChallenge team. The iChallenge is a 28-day virtual fitness event from October 3-31. Participants are encouraged to walk, run, bike, hike, waddle, and/or complete other fitness activities to create healthy habits. The first 1,700 people who register will receive a cooling headband, and winners receive additional prizes. Click here to watch a video about the Dr. Jim and Peggie Morrow iChallenge!

Registration is now open. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP All registrations are tax deductible.

We hope to have lots of Nighthawks on our team, so make sure to invite your friends and family members to join us!

Lost & Found

These 3 items can be picked up at the office. Also, please encourage your child to check the lost and found outside of the clinic for any lost jackets and water bottles. We have a lot as you can see from the picture below. Your child can check before or after lunch.

Notes From Nurse G

SLEEP IS IMPORTANT

We have successfully made it through 2 months of school! Early morning routines can be rough for both adults and students. It can be even harder on students, and affect their whole day, when they do not have enough sleep. According to the National Sleep Foundation school age children, ages 6-13 should get 9-11 hours of sleep a night. The younger the student, the more sleep they need. This allows their brain and body to rest, helping them to stay healthy and to increase their performance.

COLDS/ALLERGIES

We are coming in to that time of year when colds and allergies start to bother students, or they awake not feeling well, and it’s hard to decide if they are well enough to go to school. On the school nurse page of New Hope’s website, there is a section titled “Is your child too sick for school?” to help you answer those questions. A link to the page is also located here.

COVID

I have received a lot of questions regarding COVID. For our most current county guidelines you may go to https://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/covid, this website will have the most current information. If your student tests positive for COVID you may email your student’s teacher and myself, gsampson@forsyth.k12.ga.us. Depending on the time of day, I will either call you that same day or the next business day, to discuss when your student may return to school.

As always if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

The Sound of Music

The FoCAL Center, in conjunction with Bellissimo Theatre Company, is proud to announce the first community theatre FoCAL Main Stage Production of the classical Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, The Sound of Music!

The Sound of Music will win the hearts of the FoCAL audiences with this inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, following a young nun in-training who serves as governess to the seven children of the authoritative Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. As the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision. The Sound of Music features the classics… Climb Every Mountain, My Favorite Things, Do Re Mi, and Sixteen Going on Seventeen to name a few.

Tickets for The Sound of Music and for the complete 2022-23 FoCAL Main Stage Season are on sale now.

Free Internet Safety Night Event

There will be an Internet Safety Night for our community on October 6 at North Forsyth High School. A free dinner will be served, beginning at 5:30 pm and the speakers will start at 6:15 pm. Keynote speaker, Doug Crawford from Protect Young Eyes, will speak on the digital nature of kids. There will also be three excellent breakout speakers as well:

  • Detective Renee Mittenmeyer from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department Internet Crimes Against Children team
  • Todd Shirley from the School Safety Department
  • Sgt. Brain Chatham from the Forsyth County Narcotics Division and Johns Creek/ Forsyth Drug Task Force

Please note: the nature of the presentations are not necessarily appropriate for young children, but child care will be available.
