Fall Carnival Donations

Thank you to all those who donated to our "camping" auction basket. If you signed up to donate an item, please bring it in at the beginning of next week so we can put our winning basket together for Friday's event. We are still in need of camping chairs and a few more Home Depot gift cards if you are able to help. Thank you for all you do!

PTA is also in need of bags of candy to pass out at the Trunk-or-Treat event that evening. If you would like to send in a bag of candy for this, please label it "Fall Carnival" and send it to your child's teacher or leave it in the front office.

If you would like to volunteer your time at the carnival, PTA is in great need of volunteers for different booths and activities. Events like this are only made possible through parent volunteers, so join the fun & click the link below to sign up up:

Come work on your PTA Reflections Entry Form and enjoy a cool treat from OA Peterson's PTA! Already finished with your entry form? That's great! Stop by to turn it in and you will get an ice cream treat too!

Entry forms and guidelines can be found at http://www.txpta.org/programs/reflections/participate/

Transportation: Back Walkers

Due to safety reasons, if your child is a Back Walker, we would like for you to pick your child up by the light post at the crosswalk. We are wanting to discourage them from running on the sidewalk. Thank you for your help and support in keeping all of our Mustangs safe!!

Lunch Accounts

The cafeteria will be giving alternative meals to those students who have reached their charging limit. (2 meals) The alternative meal is a sunbutter and jelly sandwich and a milk. Please keep your child's lunch account up to date to avoid this. Thank you!

Remind 101

Please make sure you have joined your classroom teacher's REMIND 101 (Ask your teacher for her specific code)

Please also sign up for our school wide Remind 101 that our Principal, Mrs. Tremain, will send out with reminders and announcements. She also uses this in case of emergencies. Join with the code @Petersonfa

There is also a remind for our school's PTA, so be informed of what OAP’s PTA is doing on out campus! Join Peterson PTA on the remind app. https://www.remind.com/join/oapeter

change of clothes

Please be sure to provide a change of clothes for your child to be kept in their backpack or locker throughout the year in case of an accident or emergency. Thank you!

This Week's Letters & Sight wORDS

How to help at home

This Month: Book Character Pumpkins (Due on or before October 28th)

Click the link for examples and details: (Please no carved pumpkins)http://www.ourwhimsicaldays.com/home/amazing-book-character-pumpkin-decorating-ideas

-Work on our Letters & sight words of the week! Students should know how to read, write, and spell these. This includes proper handwriting.

-Read with your child at least 20 minutes a night (Look in their blue Rock Star folder for different strategies to help with this) Log their time read on their Million Word Challenge reading log!

  • Have your child point to each word as they read

  • Have your child find their sight words in their books.
  • Have your child match the sounds they're saying to the beginning letters of words in their books.
  • Have your student do a "picture walk" through new books before they read.

-Practice talking about positions of numbers (3 is "just before" 4, or 7 is "just after" 6)

-Practice knowing left from right (do the Hokey Pokey!)

Other Skills To Work On:

-Please work with your student on

  • Writing their full name (First, last, and proper handwriting)
  • Letter ID & Sounds
  • Number ID
  • Letter and Number Handwriting
  • Tying their shoes
  • Knowing their birthday
  • Knowing their address and phone number
