Week of April 27th

4th Grade Girls Heart to Heart Preview Tomorrow

4th grade girls are invited to preview Heart to Heart, an after school 5th grade girls club. If you are interested, please make sure you communicate your transportation change to the office.

A note is coming home with the girls today.

Final Blanton Visit Tomorrow

We will be visiting the Blanton Museum of Art one last time tomorrow, April 28th. Our class will be departing RPE @ 11:15, touring the Blanton from 12-1, and returning to RPE @ 1:45.

We will have lunch before we leave.

If you are interested in joining us that would be fabulous as our class currently has one parent volunteer.


Class Placement meeting Thursday @ 9

RPE will be hosting a community information session on Class Placement for 2015-2016 on Thursday at 9:00 You may opt to share information about your child and their learning style, strengths, and areas for growth with the "All About My Child" parent input form. The form can be located on Mrs. Prindle's website. Please make sure you turn in your input form during the May 1st - May 15th window as we will begin the first round of making classes for next year at the end of May.

Field Day is Friday

We will be participating in Field Day from 12:30-2:30. Please join us, if you are able!
We will eat lunch a little bit earlier (11:50-12:20) to accommodate our start time.

The current forecast looks like it will be sunny and warm! Yay!!

Please make sure your child wears their tennis shoes for Field Day. You may also want to send them with sunscreen, a hat, and an extra water bottle.

This week our learning targets are...

  • Math: I can solve problems that deal with measurements of length, intervals of time, liquid volumes, mass, and money using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division as appropriate and make observations about patterns in problems I solve.
  • Writing: I can write an organized piece of writing of my choice!
  • Reading: I can generate research topics from personal interests or by brainstorming with others, narrow to one topic, and formulate open-ended questions about the major research topic. I can generate a research plan for gathering relevant information about the major research question.
  • Science: I can observe and collect data about organisms and their environments.
  • Social Studies: I can analyze the causes, major events, and effects of the Texas Revolution (including the Battle of the Alamo, the Texas Declaration of Independence, the Runaway Scrape, and the Battle of San Jacinto).

A Note from the Clinic

"Don't forget that it's important for everyone to keep hydrated during the summer months. Also, please apply anti-itch cream to your child before coming to school if you know that they have bites. The children should not need to see me for cream in the first few hours of school."

It was a crazy busy morning in the clinic! Thanks for helping Nurse Glenda!

A Note from the Cafeteria

Just a heads up that students will not be able to charge lunches to their account without sufficient funds beginning May 1st.

Save the Date!

4th Grade End of Year Student-led Conferences will be Friday May 29th. This will be a time for you and your child to celebrate their accomplishments in 4th grade. The conferences will be come-and-go. You may come conference with your child 7:15-4. Please allow for the fact that we have Specials 9:20-10:15 and will not be in the class during that time.

Did you know?

Think Through Math uses pretests to determine the skills with which your child needs assistance. If your child passes a pretest they can "test out" of a topic and move on to the next level. Should your child complete the entire 4th grade pathway, please let me know because I can open up the 5th grade pathway.
