Attendance Matters!

The 2020-21 school year has begun, and we are excited to be learning with our students once again. While health conditions call for remote learning at this time, we look forward to holding classes in person as soon as conditions allow.

Regular school attendance is crucial to the development and education of students, and this is especially true during remote learning. Daily engagement through the first weeks of school will ensure students are on track and prepared, especially as we look toward a return to in-person learning when it is possible.

Attendance is being taken each day for each student. If your student will be absent, even for remote learning, please contact the school's attendance secretary before 7:40 a.m. for secondary students and 8:50 a.m. for elementary students. If you leave a voicemail, please include your student's name and the reason for the absence. We appreciate your partnership and support and look forward to learning together in person soon.

From the Buffett Library!

Mrs. Campbell has been working with your ELA teachers to remind students to take advantage of SORA, our on-line library. Students will find both e-books and audiobooks in SORA. Many ELA students will have to complete either a reading log or a reading BINGO for their classes, which makes SORA the perfect place to go to find books while we are remote learning. SORA offers books of all genres, grade levels, and reading levels. Check it out! For directions to get in to SORA, click here.

Mrs. Campbell has also created an "ask the librarian" button on the Buffett Library page. Simply click on Mrs. Campbell's Bitmoji, a Microsoft Office Form will open, and students can fill it in and send it to Mrs. Campbell. For access to the Library Page,

Finally, if you have questions about assignments, book suggestions, or how to use SORA or any of our other library resources, Mrs. Campbell has created a Buffett Middle School Library Teams page. To find it, go to Teams and search All Teams. You will need a join code for the Library Team. Please e-mail Mrs. Campbell at victoria.campbell@ops.org for the join code.

Student Handbook and Code of Conduct

During Bobcat Den this week, students, and teachers went over the Buffett Handbook and Student Code of Conduct. The students were able to ask questions and reflect on what they learned about the Code of Conduct with their teachers. Students and parents can find the Buffett Handbook on the Buffett website and here.

An additional page was added to the Handbook this year to address remote learning. If you would like to read the information, click here.
