Juniors - You will be taking the ACT on Tuesday, March 1st.
This is a college reportable exam that is free to you. Please, on test day, bring 1 or 2 number 2 pencils to the testing room, a photo ID and a good eraser. We will have a few pencils available, but you need to make sure you have a good eraser. The test does not allow mechanical pencils. If you want to use your own calculator, you can, but we will have calculators for you. If you use your own calculator, be sure it is an approved calculator that you can use on the ACT. We will follow all ACT guidelines, you can go towww.actstudent.org and look at the "Frequently Asked Questions" information.
Panther Writing Lab
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30
Where: Computer Lab 2407
Students must come to the lab with an assignment they need help with, not just a skill.

Cole Stillman- Bowling Player of the Year
The Arkansas Activities Association announced the selections for the Wendy’s Bowling High School Players of the Year Awards for the 2015-2016 school year.
Greenbrier senior Taylor Bradway and Cabot junior Cole Stillman have been selected as the Players of the Year.
This is the third year for the Wendy’s Player of the Year Awards. A total of 23 athletes will be selected from the sports of golf, tennis, volleyball, cross country, dance, cheer, football, swimming, wrestling, bowling, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer and track. Each winner will be recognized at the Wendy’s Day of Champions luncheon at the Holiday Inn Presidential Hotel in downtown Little Rock on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
Coaches and school administrators are eligible to make nominations for these awards throughout the school year.
Bradway was a member of three consecutive state championship teams. She finished first in this year’s state competition with a three game total (235, 220, 215) of 670. She is a three-time All-State and All-Conference bowler.
Taylor maintained a 190-to-210 average during her high school career. She also carries a 4.0 grade point average.
Stillman led the way as Cabot captured its fifth consecutive state championship, being a major contributor in the last two titles. He finished first in the 7A-6A state tournament with a game total of (194, 269, 246) of 709. He was an All-State and All-Conference selection.
Stillman carried a season average score of 198 during his junior season.
Pi Day 5K
Cabot High School's chapter of Mu Alpha Theta will be hosting the second annual Pi Day 5K for the whole community, the state of Arkansas, or anyone that wants to join!
Mu Alpha Theta is a Math National Honor Society. Students compete at regional, state, and national competitions. Last year, the event raised enough money to send six students to the National Convention and fund five local scholarships. We hope to make this year even better.
Event: Pi Day 5K featuring a pre-party and post-party will be held at the Freshman Academy.
When: March 12, 2016 at 8:00 a.m.
Where: The race will begin and end at Cabot Freshman Academy, Cabot, AR
Why: All race proceeds will go to the following:
1. The Mu Alpha Theta college scholarship fund for our local members.
2. To offset expenses for Mu Alpha Theta members traveling to the Mu Alpha Theta National Convention/Competition in Saint Louis, MO in July.

Cabot Bands To Host AR 10 Mile Classic
The 2nd annual Arkansas 10 Mile Classic is sponsored by the Cabot Bands and all proceeds will benefit the band program.

Dance Team Tryout Information
If you’re interested in trying out for the Cabot High School Dance Team, there is a mandatory parent meeting on Tuesday, March 8 at 6:30 pm in the Cabot Freshman Academy Cafeteria. Please sign up outside of CHS 1124 or 1503 and pick up an information sheet.
Roast and Toast of CHS' Own Dr. Marshall
The Cabot Scholarship Foundation Roast & Toast Banquet will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 in the Cabot Freshman Academy Cafeteria. The event will honor students who are receiving scholarships from the foundation this year.
Last year, the Foundation awarded 101 scholarships to Cabot students totaling $105,725.
This year’s honoree for the Roast & Toast Banquet is Dr. Martha Ann Ray Marshall. Dr. Marshall is a 1962 graduate of Cabot High School and is celebrating her 46th year in education.
Individual tickets for the Roast & Toast are $30.00 and a table for eight is $240.00. Tickets are available for purchase at the Cabot High School Office (501-843-3562) or from the following board members: John C. Thompson, Nina Butler, Fred Campbell, Carole Jones, Stephen Tipton, Mike Verkler, and Angela Wallace.

Extended One Week!
CAP Conferences, March 14th, 15th and 17th
CAP (Career Action Plan) Conferences will be held on March 14th, 15th and 17th. These are marked on the school calendar as Parent/Teacher Conferences. During these CAP Conferences you will be able to briefly discuss your child's career plans and review his/her classes for next year. One of the goals of the CAP Conference is to try to align your students schedule with classes that will help him/her gain knowledge in a potential career area. At this time, please discuss with your student the best time for you to attend a CAP Conference on March 14th, 15th or 17th during the hours of 3:00-6:00 PM. Your student should relay that information to his/her CAP advisor so the CAP Conference can be scheduled. You should receive a green post card around March 1st with the time and date of your CAP Conference. School will be dismissed at 2:15 each day.
Arkansas Lottery Scholarship Application, Seniors Only!
The Arkansas Lottery Scholarship Application is available now. A student must have a 19 on his/her ACT in order to apply for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and parents must have completed and submitted their 2015 taxes in order to complete the Arkansas Lottery Application. The Arkansas Student Loan Authority provides several $1000 scholarships each year to incoming and current college students in Arkansas. Each year, one of the scholarships drawn will be renewable for up to 4 years. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2016. To apply for this scholarship click on the link below.
American College Test (ACT)
Effective for the 2015-2016 school year, students will have two ways to take the ACT test:
Required and provided by the Arkansas Department of Education through the local high school on March 1, 2016 - 11th grade only!
Optional and provided by the American College Testing through a student/parent registration on national test dates throughout the year.
Both ways of taking the ACT test will provide students with a valid, reportable score for colleges and scholarships.
On March 1, 2016 all Arkansas students enrolled in 11th grade will have the opportunity to take a FREE ACT test through the assessment requirements from the Arkansas Department of Education. The school will register the students and administer the test at school during the day.
Students may take the ACT during the year on a national testing date by completing the application and paying the fee. These testing dates and registration are the responsibility of the student and parent. Information regarding these traditional testing dates is available at http://www.actstudent.org/ or the counseling center. The ACT given on a national testing date is usually on a Saturday.
