The Central Scoop

From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents,
Today, the third graders had their annual Central School Spelling Bee in the auditorium. Retired teacher, Kevan Truman, returned to Central School to help "MC" the Spelling Bee as he has done in past years. Seeing the children apply their classroom skills in a new setting like the Spelling Bee was a proud moment for all of us! We would like to especially congratulate the three top winners of the day:
1st Place - Elise Fontana
2nd place (tied) - Trevor Martin & Finn Bondar
I also would like to take this time to say THANK YOU to all the parent volunteers who make this community so wonderful. Our community thrives because of all the hard work from our parent volunteers. Thank you for constantly demonstrating "true grit" for our students. Our children's educational experiences are enriched because of each of you!
Warmly,
- Becky

One Book, One Central Announced!
This week, we kicked off our One Book - One Central celebration! This year's book is The Day You Begin by Jacquelin Woodson. A trio of 4th graders created and performed a skit to illustrate the message that everyone belongs here in our community; something we embrace and live every day at Central School. Thank you to the PTA for funding the copies of the book that are now all around our school.

From the Nurse's Office
Call Central School "Attendance Line" For Absences: 847-512-6150
Please call the Attendance Line to report absences even if you let the classroom teacher know, because some teachers don't see the email/voicemail until later in the day. Teachers assume you are calling the office. It's important that the school nurse is directly aware of any absences otherwise, your son/daughter may be considered "missing." The school nurse keeps track of all school absences in the building. For safety reasons, we want to make sure all of our students are accounted for and safe.
