Red Devil Happenings

May 2016

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Thank you to all educators who make CGMS a great place to learn and experience success.

Proctors Needed for EOGs / Process Revised

Our goal is to have a proctor in every classroom for every core subject test. This will alleviate a great deal of stress and anxiety for everyone, as we can keep students in their classrooms with their teachers during testing. Right now, we are about ten proctors short of our goal. We need help. Volunteers DO NOT need to attend the two-hour Communities in Schools training; however, for the safety of our children, volunteers do need to pass a background check. Submitting the background check online takes about five minutes. It takes a few weeks to process the background checks, so we need to identify all remaining folks willing to proctor this week. As a reminder, end of grade testing will occur from May 25th through June 2nd. Even if you can just give us one day, we thank you so much! To complete the background check, please visit: https://bib.com/secureVolunteer/RSSS/.

iPad Collection

iPads will be collecting prior to students to leaving for summer vacation. During early May, there will be wellness check conducted. All students should come to school each day with their iPads fully charged. During this wellness check, the school will identify any damage to machines. Any broken screens will be sent in for repair prior to end of year testing.

After final exams are finished, students will turn in their iPads and charging cords/blocks. Any student with damage to their school issued iPad that is deemed to be student neglect or any lost cords/blocks will receive an invoice for replacement / repair costs.

Students should come to school daily with their iPads fully charged.

Summer Achieve 3000 Challenge

China Grove Middle School will participate in the Achieve 3000 Summer Reading Challenge. Students will continue to be able to access their Achieve 3000 accounts through any internet connected device. This will help keep students from losing grade during the summer vacation in their important literacy skills. More information regarding the Summer Reading Challenge will be posted on the school's website.
