Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I am very excited to be joining the Haley community as your new school counselor. I recently moved from Wisconsin to Arizona and am looking forward to my first warm winter! I am here to support all Haley students and look forward to working with you.

Happening in August:

> School Counselor introduction/welcome video for all students. In this video, I will introduce myself, explain my role and how to contact me. This video will be delivered in Google Classrooms through classroom teachers.


> Collaborating with teachers in identifying students who may need additional supports or check-ins.


> Collaborating with teachers to gather information and data to determine universal lessons that will be delivered


> Communicating with parents for identified needs or supports.

The Role of an Elementary School Counselor

• Deliver universal social emotional lessons on topics such as identifying & regulating emotions, kindness, decision-making, and communication

• Use data to determine appropriate interventions

• Facilitate small groups

• Mediate peer conflicts

• Provide short-term counseling

• Collaborate with teachers & parents to support student success

• Respond to crisis situations

• Refer to community resources for additional support when necessary
