Reverend Felecia Pearson Smith has established herself as a speaker, instructor, scholar and community servant. Reverend Smith also facilitates women’s conferences and preaches on a local and national level. In addition, she has dedicated herself full time to ministry with her husband, Pastor Michael A. Smith. She serves as the Administrative Director of Community Church.
Reverend Smith has a legacy of outstanding accomplishments. As an Atlanta, Georgia native, she graduated from Wesleyan College, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion. Following graduation, she entered the Candler School of Theology at Emory University where she became the first African American woman to enter and graduate with a Master of Divinity. Licensed in 1977, she was also ordained in 1985 by the Georgia Ministerial Assembly of the Church of God, Anderson, Indiana.
In June of 1995, Reverend Smith was appointed to serve as the President/CEO of the Shenango Valley (PA) Urban League, Inc. During her tenure she improved the organization programmatically and fiscally. She developed the Summer Youth Apprenticeship Program and was able to revitalize the agency’s employment program. In addition to innovative program development, she strengthened several partnerships under her tenure, including Wheatland Tube (summer hiring of youth), Farrell Area School District, Sharon School District and Penn State Shenango (cultural diversity clubs). She was also an adjunct faculty member at Westminster College and Penn State University’s Shenango Campus. Reverend Smith was also a founding member of the Minority Health Advocacy Committee.
