Happy Halloween! What a fun day it was today! The kids had a blast jumping and dancing this afternoon and eating Halloween treats, playing games, figuring out items in the Witch’s Cupboard and making a Halloween bag this afternoon. Thank you to all the volunteers that were in today helping with the Big Blast Party and our Halloween Party. Both were a huge success!
Ask Your Child About:
- The unit 2 math test. This will come home on Monday. Please continue to quiz your child on basic facts.
- Google Classroom and how we are using this to share our thinking.
- Cinderhazel – asking questions to help deepen our comprehension, using a Reader’s Theater to help with fluency, and the vocabulary – hem, heave, chortle, bellowed, billowed, cinder, and hoity-toity
- Character Traits in a story – Spookley the Square Pumpkin and Cinderhazel
- Fiction vs. Nonfiction – What is the best clue that a story is fiction? What is the best clue a story is nonfiction?
- Writing – writing about our character traits, using lemon drop indents, skipping lines, and proving our traits with evidence
- Humphrey J. - Our Classroom Pet!
- Map Skills
- The morning meeting game Bridge Ball
- Cursive letter p
- Moon Phases – This homework is coming home today from Mrs. Johnson. Students should observe the moon at least three times a week. Please let me or sara.johnson@byron.k12.mn.us know if you have any questions.
Notes:
- Thank you for signing up for conferences. There will be a pink Homework for Parents sheet for you to fill out coming home next week. Please return these by Friday.
- October Reading Calendars are due on Monday! The November Reading Calendar will be placed in the students’ binders next week.
- A book order will also come home next week and will be due on Friday.
- Next week students will begin their first writer’s workshop. There will not be a spelling list next week!
- No school on Wednesday, Nov. 4. It is an end of quarter grading day.
