Motivated high school juniors and seniors for 2017/18 are needed for the Semper Fi Fund Kids Camp to be mentors. Mentors will attend camp from July 12-22. As a mentor you will be paired with a camper and share the experience of growing up with a military parent. The camp offers special training prior to the camper’s arrival to set them up for success as a mentor. They too will gain confidence, provide inspiration, and take away tools for success in school and life. The registration is now open and will close for Mentors on March 20th so we can interview and train them prior to camp. The Semper Fi Fund Kids Camp takes place in July in Boswell Pennsylvania. We gather our participants from the Jacksonville NC region as well as the Quantico VA region.
TOP Soccer Buddies are invaluable volunteers who participate directly with individual players or within a team to enable participation in a soccer activity. They help the TOPSoccer players succeed. TOPSoccer Buddies can be a same-aged peer, a teenager or an adult. They can be a soccer player, someone who works with special needs children or someone who has no previous experience. Compassion, patients, and the ability to work with children are some aspects of a volunteer buddy. TOPSoccer is an opportunity to give your best by making a difference in the life of a special athlete and give back to your community. There will be a Volunteer Informational Meeting that will need to be attended in March. Volunteers can receive community service hours by helping TOPSoccer programs. See guidance or the daily announcements on the RHS website for contact information. Contact Renee Wernimont, JASA TOPSoccer Coordinator

Peachjar
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Onslow County Schools, January 25, 2017 — Onslow County Schools will soon launch a new electronic flyer communication tool called “Peachjar.” Subscribers will be able to view school-approved eflyers by simply clicking on the Peachjar button on your school’s website homepage.
Not only will student backpacks will be lighter but also this “green” initiative will save our schools tons of paper and reduce copy costs by thousands of dollars. In addition to saving time and money, it will ensure information makes it home to parents; no more worrying what was lost between school and home. For the remainder of this school year, as we ease into full use of Peachjar, we will utilize both paper and Peachjar eflyers.
The email address to which Peachjar will send the flyer notification is the “Guardian Email Address” that was indicated on the student’s registration form. If a parent wishes to change the email address, they should contact their school’s data manager who will make the changes directly in PowerSchool.
We are scheduled to launch February 13. Parents will receive a welcome email that includes a username and password. This is provided to give parents the opportunity to manage their account and flyer delivery preferences. It is not necessary to login to receive or view school-approved eflyers.
This system is used exclusively for distribution of district-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purposes. Thank you for your support.
