VIRTUAL AUTHOR VISIT
JC Learners had the distinct opportunity to participate in a Virtual Author Session with Simran Jeet Singh, the author of highly-acclaimed Fauja Singh Keeps Going. Sponsored by our ever-supportive PTA, the author took our students on a journey that not only incorporated the true story of the oldest person to ever run a marathon but also on a journey of his own experiences as a Sikh child growing up in Texas. In a highly-engaging, lively discussion, Prof. Singh also shared some tips for the upcoming Greenwich Alliance for Education Turkey Trot, and suggested that students practice a little bit every day. When a student asked whether a strong body or a strong mind is preferred, Singh reflected, “I learned this especially from Fauja Singh and his coach, that is if you want to do something really difficult, you really want to take on a challenge, and you really want to push your life to the limits like Fauja Singh, then you really need to have a strong mind, too. And a strong heart. And the way you get that is the same way that you get a strong body. You practice every single day.”
We would like to send a special thank you to our JC PTA VP of Enrichment, Randi Jachino, and Library Media Specialist, Esra Murray, for organizing this valuable enrichment opportunity for our students.
Simran Jeet Singh will also present at the Greenwich Public Library virtually on Saturday, December 5 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 noon. We highly encourage you to register your family through the Greenwich Library website.
