1st Grade - Lenten Work of Mercy
Support Birthright Lake, Inc.
Tuesday, March 15, 2016 through Tuesday, March 22, 2016
The first graders are inviting all students to perform a Lenten Work of Mercy by joining our campaign to support Birthright of Lake County.
Birthright provides free help and guidance to pregnant women and their families who are struggling due to personal and/or financial difficulties.
Our local chapter of Birthright was so excited when we called to what their needs might be a this time:
- socks up to 5 years old
- boys underwear (size 5)
- baby wash
- baby wet wipes
- diapers (all sizes)
In addition to what is listed above, Birthright will accept any baby items. Acceptable clothing items must be new or gently used.
Monetary donations are always welcome. Checks payable to Birthright Lake, Inc.
Put your spare change in the plastic baby bottles located in the cafeteria. It all adds up!
Students may bring these items to any first grade classroom before 8:00 am each day.
Let's make a difference!
Thanks A Million,
The First Grade

COMFORT FOR KIDS
St. Gabriel School
National Junior Honor Society Project
We are partnering with SOHI River Arts to make tied fleece blankets for the pediatric unit at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. We are asking for donations of fleece or money to purchase fleece.
TOP OF THE WISH LIST – FLEECE BLANKETS
The nurses in the pediatric unit love to give blankets to patients, and the children LOVE to receive them. Although blankets are not distributed to all patients, supplies have run out. The only blankets they have are provided by the nurses and they can’t do it all!
SCRAPBOOK PAPER QUILT- “PICK A SQUARE”
Have your child pick a quilt square!!
All donations of $5.00 (purchases 1 yd. of material) or more receive recognition on the Comfort For Kids display board by the school office.
Please see the link to the flyer!
Now that spring is the air we know that summer is just around the corner.
Reminder that we will be posting a number of community camps/flyers in the foyer of the school ranging from cheer leading and horse back riding camps to softball and other summer camps.
Please stop by to take a look.
Grade 5 School Supply Drive
Each month of this school year and next, our school will be focusing on a Corporal and Spiritual Work of Mercy and a Catholic Social Teaching Theme. This month, our focus is on feeding the hungry and sharing knowledge and the life and dignity of the human person . Therefore, grade 5 is holding a school supply drive to collect school supplies for Cleveland schools in need.
Items do not necessarily need to be purchased. We will be accepting donations of both new and gently-used items that are still in good condition. Some gently-used items that will be accepted are pens/pencils, pencil pouches, backpacks, scissors, etc. We would really appreciate any contributions you could make to this cause! Please bring any donations to room 211 (Miss O'Neill's classroom). We will be gathering the supplies and distributing them in the beginning of March. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!

The “Boxes of Hope” full of donations are given to families that are leaving the shelter as support while they start over in their new residence. This can be as grand or as small of a project as your girls would like to make it. Let them discuss and decide with your help! It is SO easy to make a positive difference in someone’s life! All we need to do is….
1. Have the girls wrap each box in plain paper (top and bottom separately so the box can be filled and then covered). Decorate as many boxes as the girls would like with messages of hope, love, and any other positive message or artwork that your girls would like to share (no names on the boxes please).
2. Collect donations from the wish list below and fill your decorated boxes.
3. Contact Project Hope and arrange a drop off time (if you would like to take your girls, they will receive a wonderful “THANK YOU” and a free tour of the shelter if you would like), OR
