Lago Vista Middle School
Excellence In All We Do 3/5/21
Masks
Well, this is a tough one. As you can imagine, talking to middle school students about wearing masks(especially our reluctant ones) has been a difficult task. However, we've always had Governor Abbott's order to fall back on, and now that has been taken away.
In short, after much discussion and consideration, there will be no change to the LVISD mask policy. I know that opinions vary wildly on this issue. As I greet students in the morning, I have heard from many people thanking us for this decision, and many people who strongly disagree.
It's sort of like asking Chicago Bears fans who should be our starting quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky or Nick Foles? Neither option is going to make everyone happy(in this case, I say neither - trade for Deshaun Watson or Russell Wilson!).
However, the two main factors in our decision were student safety and keeping our school open. We cannot possibly make everyone happy with this decision, but please know that a lot of thought went into the possibilities.
Course Selection
In 6th Grade, she will be visiting the Tech and Viking Valor classes. For 7th Grade, she will be visiting Health and Tech classes. Course selection guides need to be completed by Wednesday, March 24th.

Fundraiser
Last chance! Thank you for all of the donations - we are almost at 100!
We are going to wrap this up at Spring Break...so if you'd like to make a donation, we'd appreciate it!
Without the many activities we do throughout the year, fundraising is something that would help tremendously to better fund student/teacher activities. So when I talked to the School Funding Group, I felt like it was a great compromise. All we are asking for is a minimum of a $20 dollar donation, and for that donation, you will receive numerous discounts off brand name items like Amazon, Home Depot, Nike and Oakley. These discounts can far outweigh the cost of your donation. The proceeds of this fundraiser will help fund :
- Culinary Arts
- Teacher Training
- Teacher Supplies
- Student Incentives
- Technology for the classroom
- UIL and OAP Supplies
- School Improvement
