Dismissal Information after Pep Rally-Safety First
To ensure the safety of our students, please be reminded of the following:
This year, are pep rallies will begin at 1 pm. All of our students sit with their classmates and teachers. Parents are welcome to sit on the opposite side of the gym in the visitors' section. When the pep-rally ends, we will walk back over to the elementary building to dismiss our students around 1:30 pm. We do not release students to parents from the gym. It is too hectic to do so safely.
If you are attending the pep-rally, then at its conclusion, please return to your vehicle and use the pick-up line, just like any other afternoon dismissal. If you insist on walking up to get your child, please notify the office before 11 AM. Please do not call or tell us during the pep rally. Letting us know ahead of time will help dismissal run smoother, faster, and most importantly, allow our staff time to prepare for a safe dismissal change. With 157 students going home in various ways, a last minute change creates challenges in our office and confuses our students. If your student is not normally a "walker", please come through our pick up line after the pep rallies.
If you must be a last minute 'walk-up", just like any other day, while waiting on your child, please stand in the grassy area between the elementary and junior high buildings. Even if you are in that area, please be prepared to wait. We will dismiss our regular walkers first. We do not allow students to cross the street and run to you. That is dangerous during afternoon dismissal. An early dismissal day combined with the excitement of a pep-rally can create feelings of excitement and hurriedness. We recognize this, so please know that our staff will continue to be vigilant in regard to safety protocols, even on early release pep-rally days. We appreciate your cooperation.
