Summer School Registration Opens Soon
Early Summer Greetings District 103 Families!!
What better way to warm up during these winter months than to think about summer school! This year, all three D103 summer school programs, (Extended School Year, English Language Learners, and Enrichment) will be available to students for both in-person and/or remote learning opportunities!
In response to COVID-19 mitigation measures, in-person students will only be able to register for one group/POD. A POD will consist of 4 courses. The courses will be predetermined based on enrollment from previous summer school years. There will be 4 groups for each grade level range. Within each POD, the grade range will offer the same courses. Students will travel together as a group to each of their 4 classes.
Remote class offerings will also be available and will be shared at a later date.
Please review D103 In-person Summer School offerings and preliminary information for students in grades K-7:
All COVID-19 mitigation strategies that have been implemented during the regular school year will continue during in-person summer school programs.
Enrichment, Intervention, English Language Learner (ELL), Extended School Year (ESY), and Guided summer school programs will be held in-person at Daniel Wright Junior High School (excluding Early Childhood) with remote options available from Tuesday, June 8 through Wednesday, June 30. Summer School includes four 50 minute periods that run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. In-person classes will be limited to 12 students and students will be podded (grouped) together throughout the day.
The Guided Program (special education, per the IEP) is a specialized academic/life skills program for students with multiple disabilities. Students also receive related services in Speech/Language, OT/PT, and Social Work. The Guided Program will be held in-person at Daniel Wright.
The Early Childhood (EC) Program will be held at Sprague School. Our EC program will be held in-person and is a classroom(s) of students with special needs whose IEP team recommends Extended School Year.
Students must meet the criteria to be eligible for the English Language Learner (ELL) Program, Extended School Year (ESY) Program (special education, per the IEP), and Math and Reading Intervention Programs. We are working on a plan to offer math and reading intervention courses to those students who may need additional support. Students must be invited to participate in these courses and will receive more information this spring. If you register your student(s) for additional summer school courses, administrators will work with families to adjust summer school registration as necessary. Students will pay the same fee for these Intervention courses as other summer school classes.
We hope you will consider being part of the summer programming in District 103. Registration opens March 9 after 9:00 a.m. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at summerschool@d103.org!
