Dear Dudley-Charlton Parent(s)/ Caregiver(s):
In light of Governor Baker’s recent announcement to extend school closures through May 1st, administrators and educators have come together to create Enhanced Remote Learning Opportunities for students. Additionally, administrators and educators have established “remote office hours” where they are available to students and caregivers.
The Enhanced Remote Learning Opportunities will be shared out to families on Monday, March 30th and will also be available on the District website included in the COVID-19 link: http://www.dcrsd.org/about-dcrsd/covid-19. Educators have collaborated across grade levels and across the District to provide enhanced learning opportunities (remotely). Again, the intention is to not recreate the classroom nor to “pick up where we left off,” but rather to target specific skills that are essential for each academic area. Additionally, unified art teachers and special education support staff have collaborated with their colleagues to support the “whole student.”
Educator office hours have been established to offer students and parent(s)/caregiver(s) an opportunity to connect, ask questions, discuss remote learning opportunity lessons, and just “check-in” with students. The circumstances surrounding COVID-19 have led us into uncharted territories, and keeping the lines of connection open to your child’s teachers is fundamental for students, teachers, and families.
As a District, the commitment, and determination to move forward are profound, and clearly reflect the dedication of both educators and families to the success of “our” students. We are “Two Towns…One Community.”
Thank you in advance for your continued patience, collaboration and understanding. We hope you are staying well and strong during these unprecedented times.
