Curriculum Highlights
Math-This week we will begin Topic 4 in our math curriculum. Throughout this topic, we will practice our subtraction facts to 20. We will practice counting and making 10.
Social Studies-We will continue our study of community. This week we will have a visit from our first community helper!

November 8 is Election Day!
All MJS students are invited to vote for the "All-American Donut!" To celebrate, Student Council will be selling glazed and sprinkle donuts on Tuesday, November 8, at morning recess for $1 each. Remember all proceeds go to Reach Out.
BOOK FAIR 2016 ARRIVES THIS THURSDAY!
Book Fair 2016 touches down at MJS this Thursday and the theme is The Wonderful World of Reading! Come to the HPAC November 10 & 11-17 for five fun-filled days of books, authors, and events. Read the Book Fair Newsletter (you may also click the Smore link below) for complete details, which includes author line-ups, book order forms, event dates, etc. A few amazing highlights are Grand Opening Day and Family Night on November 10; Parents' Author Brunch on November 15; and Donuts with Dads and Special Friends on November 16 and 17. Games that support addition and subtraction fact practice are: Flying Cow Incident, Jungle Quest, Launch That Sheep, and Fancy Flea. Have fun!
Wednesday-Journal entry-In the story "Yuck! Yuck!' Dominic gets very messy while sitting in a mud puddle. Think about a time when you were messy. Tell what happened that made you look like a mess. Write about your ideas in 2-3 complete sentences. Don't forget to include a picture with your writing.
Thursday-Catch up night! Please complete any unfinished work from the week. If there isn't anything in your folder, please take some time to review the Unit 5 spelling words. With the extra time you will have, find something FUN to do-play outside, read a favorite book, play a favorite game, the possibilities are endless!
Unit 5 Spelling Words
Students will be introduced to the following memory words(sight words) and spelling words this week in our Superkids lessons. At the end of Unit 5, they should know how to read and spell all 6 memory words. They should also be able to spell words based on the spelling patterns.
