Counselor Update
Counselor Canvas Page
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Counseling page for your child’s grade level in Canvas, please check it out. This page is for you and your child to connect with Collins Counseling whether doing In Person Learning or Virtual Learning! We have a guidance lesson located there for the month of August/September which focuses on the Colossal Cobra Character trait of Respect. We also added a Calming Corner September 2 to our Canvas pages. Come visit us virtually.
Colossal Cobra
We will be doing Colossal Cobra Awards at the end of September. It will be a virtual ceremony, so for the 6th grade parents - this will be new. For the 5th grade parents, let us explain Colossal Cobra.
Colossal Cobra is based on 9 character traits that we focus on as a campus to help create a culture of caring, respect, and personal responsibility. We cover one trait a month during guidance lessons, and teachers reinforce throughout the month as well. Each month, teachers are asked to nominate 2 to 4 students in their homeroom that go above and beyond representing the month’s character trait. At the end of the month, we hold a ceremony so that students that have been “colossal” can be recognized as a Colossal Cobra. Traditionally, parents have been invited to come to the campus. Due to our current guidelines, we are changing it up and doing things virtually for the parents/students. All learners are eligible for being a Colossal Cobra (In Person or Virtual). Look for more information in each newsletter this month.

Distributed Chromebooks
Just a friendly reminder for any students that are returning to Collins on September 8th and have a Chromebook checked out to them, please bring the Chromebook back when you return to school.
- Bikers/Walkers/Car Riders please stop at the 5-1 and 6-1 hallways (first hallway coming from the front) to drop off Chromebooks.
- Bus Riders please stop in the gym to crop off your Chromebook.
Please do everything you can to take care of them. I would suggest wrapping them in a towel or something like that to help keep them safe and in working condition. If for some reason the Chromebook has been damaged please let us know when you drop it off.
Thank You,
Mr. Barnhart

Remote Learning Schedule
Students who are participating in virtual learning are invited to have face to face time with their core and BAMO teachers on assigned days. You can find Zoom times and links on your teacher's CANVAS page. The virtual school day will start at 8:55 AM and students will not be required to do work before their first period Zoom. In order to make the best use of this time, it is recommended that students watch the recorded lesson and start the assignment the school day before the Zoom meeting so that the student can receive maximum benefit from their virtual class time with the teacher.
*Attention 6th grade math students *
