Principal's Message
Hello Seco Families,
Arroyo Seco will be participating in the California Shakeout Earthquake Drill on October 17. Please see below for more information.
Friday, October 18, is the end of the first quarter. Please encourage your children to complete all of their assignments and do everything they can this last week to finish strong, before quarter grades become final. Have them check with their teachers regarding questions they have or about additional supports available.
Reminders: the end of year 8th grade trip will be to Universal Studios on the night of May 22, which is the Friday before Memorial Day. Our 8th grade Showcase presentations will occur over two minimum days, Thursday and Friday, May 28 and 29. More details to follow.
Students are allowed to dress for Halloween on October 31. However, they must adhere to the school dress code and to the Halloween Dress Guidelines spelled out below. Have them check with their Assistant Principal before Halloween with any specific concerns or questions.

Halloween Dress Guidelines
Students are allowed to dress up for Halloween at Arroyo Seco. In addition to our Arroyo Seco Jr. High Dress Code, student costumes must adhere to the following:
- Costumes should not discriminate or demean any group regardless of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or special needs.
- Costumes should be positive and avoid anything that reflects violence or violent acts. Costume selection should be tasteful and in keeping with a positive school climate.
- Costumes should not provide a distraction to the school program. i.e., no revealing costumes such as bathing suits and sleepwear.
- Weapons and facsimile weapons of any type are not allowed.
- Costumes must not impair a student’s vision or movement.
- Face masks or hoods that cover your face are not permitted.
- Costumes that would completely hide a student’s identity, i.e., a gorilla suit, are not permitted.
- Limited face make-up is permitted. Students may not bring costume make-up to school.
- Costumes depicting drugs, alcohol, or tobacco are not allowed.
- Students should see Mr. Miller or Ms. Bakoo prior to Halloween with specific questions or concerns.
