GRISSOM NEWS!
MARCH 2017
Note to Parents:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are in the thick of round one testing and so far things are going very well. In fact, we have found ways to celebrate small successes with kids and are having fun during what would normally be a very stressful period. Please know that round one will conclude on the 10th and round two, the multiple choice part of ISTEP+, will occur during the weeks of April 17th - May 5th.
Recently there was information mailed home regarding the use of electronic devices during ISTEP testing. Please refer to this newsletter if you did not receive it. The state prohibits any form of electronics in the testing environment.
I must also take a moment to celebrate the many talents of our students. Our Grissom News Network class created a video with other students in our building that captured a small snapshot of how imaginative our kids can be. Please take a moment to watch their ISTEP message to parents by clicking on the link or viewing it below. This will help you see why I am so proud of our children. https://youtu.be/fDzxeOykGqk
In closing, the year is quickly progressing and it is very important to take the time to talk with your child about grades, their academic progress and how to finish strong. Our school counselors and teachers are available to address any concerns. Never be afraid to schedule time to chat with your child’s teacher. We believe the home and school partnership should always remain strong and visible to all children.
Sincerely,
Nathan Boyd, Principal

Grissom Trivia Night to Benefit Riley's Children's Hospital
Grissom Trivia Night to benefit Riley's Children's Hospital will happen on
Friday, April 28th.
Three different types of tables will be sold:
- VIP tables cost $200 and will have pizza from Enzo's pizza, as well as food and drinks from other local businesses provided.
- Regular tables will be sold for $100
- Student tables for $50.
All tables will be allowed a total of 10 players, however to qualify for the student table, there must be more students than adults (ie, 6 students, 4 adults).
Also, each student table must have at least 1 adult.
During the trivia night, there will be a silent auction with items donated by members of the community. In previous years we have boasted a plethora of Notre Dame memorabilia, South Bend Cubs tickets, gift cards to local business and much more. There will also be raffles throughout the event.
If you would like to reserve a table of any kind, would like to make a donation for our auction/raffle, or would like to sponsor a table for a group of students, please contact L.A. High at Khigh@phm.k12.in.us.
We hope to see you April 28th!

9. Don't wait until the last minute
8. Buy an agenda book and use it
7. Dedicate a space for every class in your book bag
6. Stay organized throughout the year
