Reminder: The First Four Days

During the spring, members of Principal's Cabinet overwhelmingly supported "returning to our roots" this year in order to do what is best for kids. We agreed to set aside the first few days of school to establish routines and procedures, develop a community within our classrooms, and lay the foundation for a wonderful year that enables a collaborative learning environment to thrive.

Because school begins on a Tuesday this year, you are welcome to take the entire first week - 4 days - to begin to accomplish this.

You may wish to include the following activities:

+ engaging students in community-building activities

+ establishing routines and procedures

+ formally introducing centers and materials

+ developing and posting hopes and dreams

+ collectively generating classroom rules/guidelines and discussing logical consequences when these rules are not followed

Be sure to have fun with your students!
