The Weekly Hoot
June 12-18, 2017
Greetings All -
Hey everyone! I hope the first couple of weeks of summer have treated you all very well. It looks like many of you have been at the fair and soaking in all of that fun. Tomorrow I plan on lying beside a pool and getting some sun! We have been working 10 hour days at school and that is getting OLD! LOL!
Summer school began this week and it has been extremely enjoyable. We have five kiddos here, and we are taking turns being the transportation for them to and from summer school. It is such a fun feeling when you have this few students at summer school because you come to know them on a whole new level than when they are one of 60 something in a class. Thursdays are now "stop at the donut shop" Thursdays. I am sure we look like a motley crew when we walk in! It's worth every bit of time and effort though when you see these youngsters putting forth everything they have in order to make it through this third round of testing.
So far, the custodians have gotten the new blue hall and the red hall waxed. Lee won't be there next week to put furniture back in the rooms, though. That should happen the next week. The next hall they will be waxing is the yellow hall.
Amberly and I (99.723% Amberly!!) have been working on the Master Schedule as well as everything else that has to be completed by both of us before the new year starts. I don't care how many years we do it, it still seems to be like "starting from scratch." LOL! I can assure you that it will be ready before August 28th though. :)
Our first story hour was a great success this past Tuesday. Donna and Amanda did an excellent job with the gardening theme. We had between 10-15 participants and a great time was had by all. I really appreciate the efforts these two ladies put into making the night a success.
As all of you know by now, Amberly has accepted the job of District Testing Coordinator for Navasota ISD. I think I am still in denial at this point. It really hasn't hit me yet, and probably won't until August 1st when she normally comes back to work, and this year she doesn't!! :( Words cannot express what Amberly Kolby means to me, and to this school for that matter. She has been my "go-to gal" for so much, she is beyond thorough in her job, and she makes me laugh every single day. To say her spot as our school counselor will be hard to fill is an understatement. I will miss her every day, but it makes me happy that she is spreading her wings and growing in her career. We are beginning counselor interviews on Monday in order to find someone to fill Amberly's position. I will keep you posted as to how that plays out.
Speaking of Amberly, we are going to get together on Wednesday, June 21 (5:00 PM) at Chuy's in College Station for a little farewell gathering. I sent a punchbowl invitation to the elementary staff, but if you don't get it, or don't see it, please feel free to come and let Amberly know how much we are going to miss her!
Also, go ahead and mark your calendars for Sunday, August 13. Our annual "Back to School Bash" will be a little different this year. We are going to head out to Bernhardt Winery for the Summer Lawn Concert Series on this evening. This will be a ladies only event. More information will be coming, but I wanted to go ahead and let you know the date.
I will be headed out on Tuesday afternoon, along with Connie Wetuski and Kim Ross, to the TEPSA Conference in Austin. If you need anything, I am only a text or phone call away!
Everyone have a great week!
Love to all,
-- Marcy :)
