“When you connect to the heart of a child, everything is possible.”
Dr. Karyn Purvis
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break and has had an amazing start to 2023! I can’t wait to see your little blessings and meet our new Brock Tigers!
Complete this info form if there is anything you want to share with me. Please remember that all information is kept confidential. Occasionally, there are situations that occur outside of school which can impact a child’s day, so I want to make sure I support your child as best I can. If you would rather call or email me, the contact information is listed below. If it’s an emergency, email is best as it will pop up on my phone immediately. I’m not in my office very much because I love to be out and about with the kids.
For fun family activities around the area, click on this week’s edition of Kids Out and About. You can also sign up for their weekly newsletter.
Students will continue to learn about gratitude in Peace class. I am using a few activities from “7 Mindsets”. If you’d like more information on the “7 Mindsets”, click here.
Click on Burleson News for tons of family-friendly activities in our area. If you attend any of these events, please share your pictures on Brock’s Twitter or Facebook pages.
Click on the Educators’ Spin on It for January family fun activities! The calendar has recipes and directions for polar bear biscuits, snowman pizza, a pretend snow sensory bin as well as a snowglobe art project! Be sure and share your pictures on Brock’s Twitter or Facebook pages!
If you want additional information on the Brock counseling program, click here. I am always here to serve you and your child!
If your family is in need of assistance (economic, family support, crisis/emergency, health/wellness, or mental health), please call Mrs. K. at 817-245-3800 or email jennifer.kirkpatrick@bisdmail.net. All information is kept confidential.
Here is one of my favorite quotes and a great one to remember!
Parents/caregivers need to fill a child's bucket of self-esteem so high that the rest of the world can't poke enough holes to drain it dry~~Alvin Price

Attendance: Texas Education Code
Dear Parent / Legal Guardian:
Our district’s goal is that all students will be successful. One of the most important factors that contribute to a student’s academic success is their attendance in class on a daily basis. As a partner in your child’s success, Burleson Independent School District wants to encourage you to make school attendance a top priority for your child.
Texas Education Code states that it is the parents’ duty to monitor and require their child to
attend school (TEC 25.093). The Code further states that if a student is absent 10 or more days or parts of days within a six-month period in the same year or on three or more days or parts of days within a four-week period may be considered excessive. The following is an example of what is
subject to happen if your child has excessive absences:
(1) The student’s parent is subject to prosecution under Section 25.093, Texas Education
Code; and
(2) The student is subject to referral to a truancy court for truant conduct under Section
65.003(a), Family Code.
Please make every effort to see that your child is in school and that you have notified us of
his/her absence (i.e., calling the school on the day of the absence with the reason for the absence), or that your student has returned with the appropriate excuse documentation (i.e., note from a doctor, dentist, therapist, or court representative including student’s name, date of absence(s) and professional’s signature, or funeral documentation). According to Burleson ISD School Board Policy FEC (Local), if your child is absent for 3 or more consecutive days, a doctor’s note will be required.
Burleson Independent School District appreciates the opportunity to work in partnership with
parents in our goal to ensure student success in all their endeavors. Please contact us if you have any questions concerning attendance issues.
