Techie Tidbits
Term 4 Week 7-8
I know all you are thinking about right now is reports, however I am sure in the holidays you will be thinking about how you want to incorporate technology into your lessons in a new or different way next year or at least be more organised so you don't waste quiet so much time searching the internet for resources!
One thing I have realised about using technology and online tools where students create and communicate is when it comes to reporting, instead of lugging home a pile of papers to review, its sitting there in cyberspace or the "cloud". All you need to do is pop online and there it is! Easy!

What is Symbaloo?
After signing up (free), you create a "web mix". This is a collection of website links that you can add. They look like tiles on your screen (with pictures or symbols).
You can add your symbaloo as your homepage which is handy as it has a google search section in the middle of each web mix.
You can also search for other symbaloos- try education, maths, reading, web 2.0 tools. You can search Australian users or the default American.
This really is a great tools.
Below are just a couple of web mixes that I have discovered.
Web 2.0 Tools
What are WEB 2.0 tools???
Some examples are:

Social learning environment and one of the best ways to teach with tech - Twitter
The micro blogging service that many love or hate. - WordPress
Content publishing system. It’s gone way beyond just blogging. - Prezi
Innovative way to share presentations without PowerPoint - Animoto
Make beautiful videos from images in a snap - Weebly
Create your own website or blog, very easy to use - Audioboo

This website called SCRATCH is a simple way to create animations online. Have a look. Could be a little complicated to start with but it has step by step instructions, its free and there are heaps of examples to look at.
From the website:
With Scratch, you can program your own interactive stories, games, and animations — and share your creations with others in the online community.
Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.
