Stone Soup Food Drive
The Stone Soup story teaches the value of giving and sharing with others. Arbor View students can display these values by participating in the Month of Giving and Gratitude activity. Each day, students can choose to do one act of giving or gratitude. Then, on Thanksgiving, they can share with their families what these acts meant to them.
In addition to donating items and participating in the Month of Giving and Gratitude, students are encouraged to make their own version of Stone Soup at home using the recipe provided. Students may post pictures or a video of their Stone Soup creation on Flipgrid using the following link https://flipgrid.com/d2a844ba

Cell phone and electronics reminder
Please remind your children about the rules regarding cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices. We have had a number of instances lately of students taking out their phones in class to contact friends or even call home.
As a reminder, during the school day, phones must be kept out of sight in a backpack, purse, or locker. The phones must be turned off during the school day unless the teacher gives permission or there is an emergency. Phones and smartwatches should not be disruptive to the learning of your child or other students. Unfortunately, if a student violates these rules, the device may be confiscated. This also applies to the bus.
You can see more about the rules for devices in the Student/Parent Handbook at www.ccsd89.org/handbook (pages 35-36)
If you need to reach your student during the school day, please contact the school’s main office at (630) 469-5505.
Please have a conversation at home so you understand how your student is using their device at school and why it is important not to disrupt the learning environment with electronics. Offer a reminder of the rules, if necessary. Thank you for your help with this!

Halloween Harvest highlights
- Costume contest winners were awarded for scariest, best homemade, cutest, funniest, and most creative costumes.
- Only one winner guessed the exact weight of the pumpkin, Jaleen; the pumpkin weighed in at 26 pounds!
- This was the first year that we held the event outdoors; games on the lawn led to lots of candy and boo bucks to turn into prize central!
- Kids enjoyed winning tasty treats at the cake walk, putting on temporary tattoos, taking pics at the photo booth, painting pumpkins, and getting frightened at the scare walk.
A heartfelt thank you to all who contributed in some way to make Halloween Harvest a fun day.
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with set up, games, ticket orders, painting pumpkins, ticket table, cake walk, food area, scare walk, prize central and so much more; they include but are not limited to:
