SCULPTUREUM, A CHOCOLATERIE & MORE!

2-DAY TOUR APRIL 23-24, 2021

We will leave Tauranga early, stopping for a quick coffee/comfort break at Bombay, before continuing North to spend several hours at the wonderful Sculptureum, exploring the gardens & galleries. We have been here several times & it never fails to deliver an exceptional experience; clients, invariably, enjoy the venue so much that a return visit to see the laresr artistic offerings is always both requested & appreciated..

The Sculptureum Experience is made up of three sculpture gardens and six art galleries spanning over 1.5km of flat paths. The private collection includes over 700 works of art by local and international artists. From live rabbits to the grand Chihuly glass chandelier and everything in between, you are guaranteed to find inspiration around every corner during your visit to this immaculately-kept attraction. You can lunch (at your own cost) in the prestigious Rothko Restaurant (fare ranging from snacks to 3-course meals).

We will travel on to our accommodation in Matakana, the Matakana Motel.

You will be free in the evening to have dinner at the motel or to go to eateries within walking distance. We (Paul & Lyn) will be crossing the road to eat at The Market Kitchen & you are welcome to join us if you wish.

24 APRIL

On Saturday, you will have time to visit Matakana's famous Farmers' Market before travelling on to our first venue.

We will enjoy a light morning tea at Brick Bay Winery & then experience the renowned Brick Bay Sculpture Trail

We will travel on to Plume Restaurant, Runner Duck Winery for a 2-course lunch.

En route for home, we will visit & have a coffee at Chocolate Brown Chocolaterie., where we will have a tasting followed up by a regular hot drink and a platter selection of sweet and savoury bites to your tables

In 1992, a Swiss couple set up a small chocolate business in Rotorua. That business was moved to Geraldine, then Queenstown in 2007 and re-branded as Chocolate Brown. Since 2010, Chocolate Brown has been operating in Warkworth, with a busy Cafeteria, Retail Chocolaterie and Factory, employing over 20 staff and producing handmade award-winning chocolates for retail, wholesale and corporate clients throughout New Zealand.

The Chocolaterie hand-makes its beautiful award-winning chocolates on site every day from the finest gourmet Callebaut couverture & the freshest of New Zealand's real butter & cream along with other ingredients & decorations sourced from passionate growers, manufacturers & suppliers.

All of the Chocolate Brown products are here, as well as traditional British sweets, Dutch licorice and many varieties of fresh fudge.

Clients will also have the opportunity to visit Of Hand and Heart. This contemporary pottery & ceramic art gallery brings together exceptional works from over 60 artists. They have one of the largest & most wide-ranging selections of NZ clay art, from the most famous e.g.Peter Collins, Peter Shearer & John Parker to exciting ground-breaking work from emerging artists. They also exhibit outstanding clay pieces by clay artists from the United States, Japan & Australia. There is also a wide range of paintings - oil, acrylic & water-colour (originals & prints on canvas). Plus sculpture, fibre art, silk garments & jewellery.
