All School Assembly-We Need Your Help
After longer breaks, it's important to take some time to review expectations, and for that reason, we would like to have an all-school assembly when we return from winter break.
We need your help! We thought it would be fun to have different skits or TikToks to highlight the Warhawk Way expectations. I would like to meet to determine who will team up together and what each team will be highlighting as the expectations. Maybe you want to sign up as a grade level or with your house. If you are interested in helping out and entertaining our students, please email Anna. We will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 10th at 3:05 pm to start planning. I promise we will keep it to 30 min.

10 Steps to Reducing Toxic Stress in the Classroom
The reality is our students are affected by stress on a daily basis and this impacts their learning. A child who demonstrates restless behavior or acts out, may be showing signs of toxic stress. But what can we do to help?
10 Steps to Reduces Toxic Stress:
- Utilize trauma-informed approaches. Focus on trust, safety, collaboration, choice, empowerment, and equity.
- Create a positive school climate. Develop positive & secure relationships with your students.
- Incorporate practices that address belonging & safety.
- Implement one-on-one time with your students.
- Create "safe" spots in your classroom. Designate an area for students to take a break if they feel stressed.
- Be predictable. Keep your schedule consistent and keep a calm soothing tone.
- Provide nutritious snack and time for movement.
- Hang up prompts to help students with discussions.
- Boost engagement. Encourage students to use phrases such as "I wonder" and "I notice".
- Teach and model social-emotional learning. Teach students strategies to calm themselves, problem solve, recognize emotions they are feeling and the feelings of others.
