Where our Monomoy students are 'fin'tastic!
HES celebrates results from first year audit of our " Fin"tastic PBIS initiative!
The results from the implementation survey last week are very encouraging! Here are some highlights:
100% of the staff surveyed could list our behavior expectations, reported that these expectations were taught and had given out acknowledgments.
77% of the students surveyed could list the expectations, 92% had received acknowledgements.
Average bus referrals by day has fallen by 50% since December.
Average office referrals by day has also fallen 50% since February.
HES received a total score of 83% on our Implementation Checklist for our first year. 100% Full implementation usually takes 3-5 years. This score for our first year is a true reflection of the enthusiasm of our students, families and staff. FINS UP!
Planning for next year will continue over the summer and a PARENT UNIVERSITY will be offered in the Fall '17 to expand our efforts between school and home.

"Music Counts Every Day" at HES - Each morning as we get the day started next week at HES we will be listening to The Stars and Stripes Forever composed by John Philip Souza...
"The Stars and Stripes Forever." It's the official march of the United States and it's John Philip Sousa's most famous composition. You've probably heard it before, even if you don't know the name.
All of his life, John Philip Sousa loved music and loved America, so it's no surprise that he wrote this march. Sousa grew up in Washington, D.C., during the Civil War. As a kid, he enjoyed hearing the music of the military bands that filled the streets of Washington as well as the sounds of his father's trombone. His father played in the U.S. Marine Band and Sousa quickly followed in his footsteps. Sousa first enlisted in the Marine Band as an apprentice violinist and later became the bandleader. When Sousa wasn't playing with a band, he was writing music, like "The Stars and Stripes Forever." By the 1890s he had written enough popular marches to be nicknamed the "March King."
The question this week is:
Which instruments that you usually hear in an orchestra do not play in a band?
There will be 2 bubbles/water drops for a correct answer.
The answer to last week’s question is:
J. K. Rowling wrote the Harry Potter books.
