New AHS Principal Named

Anna ISD is pleased to announce the appointment of Jared Miller as the new principal of Anna High School. Mr. Miller replaces Shelley Anderson who took a district administration position at Frisco ISD in January.

Mr. Miller began his educational career in 1999 and served as an algebra teacher and football and track coach in Abilene, Jacksonville, Wichita Falls, and Allen. He moved to administration in 2007, serving as associate principal, house principal, and dean of students for Allen High School before assuming his current role as principal of Crandall High School in 2020.

“My family and I are excited to join the Coyote family," said Mr. Miller. "I appreciate the opportunity to lead Anna High School and look forward to getting started!"

In addition to his principal’s certification, Mr. Miller earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree from Midwestern State University. Mr. Miller and his wife, Mary Lynn, have three children (ages 22, 21, and 10).

Amy Sweet will continue to serve as Anna High School's interim principal until Mr. Miller joins the Anna Coyote family on February 14, 2022.

Please join us in welcoming Jared Miller to Anna ISD!

Anna's Fourth Elementary School

To meet the needs of our growing population, Anna's fourth elementary school, Rosamond-Sherley Elementary, located at 3000 FM 2862, will open next school year. The construction for Rosamond-Sherley is progressing nicely and is on schedule to open August 2022.

Part of the process of opening a new school is to create new attendance boundary zones. This spring, Anna ISD will mail letters to current families that will be zoned to attend Rosamond-Sherley.

Bryant Elementary's current principal, Robin Latham will be the principal of Rosamond-Sherley Elementary. The current assistant principal of Bryant Elementary's, Whitney Benton has been named as the principal of Joe K Bryant Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year.

The district is in the process of dividing our elementary staff into four different campuses, while making every effort to make sure each campus is staffed equally regarding teaching experience.

Robin Latham

Mrs. Latham has been a member of the Anna ISD community for 17 years. She began her education career in the classroom teaching Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades on the Bryant, Rattan and Early Childhood Elementary campuses. After twelve years of teaching, she became an assistant principal at Harlow Elementary School. Most recently, Mrs. Latham has served the past three years as the campus principal at Bryant Elementary where her career started.

"I am honored to be named the new principal of Rosamond-Sherley Elementary. I look forward to continuing to serve the Anna ISD community and aim to continue my goal of improving student achievement and cultivating a strong relationship between school and families.”

Whitney Benton

Anna ISD has named Whitney Benton as the new principal for Bryant Elementary. Mrs. Benton’s career in education spans 20 years at the elementary level. She has spent the past five years in administration. Mrs. Benton earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and master’s degree from the University of North Texas. She spent ten years in the classroom before transitioning to a new role as the campus Library Media Specialist. Mrs. Benton then joined the administrative team while serving as the Campus Intervention Specialist. She has been an Assistant Principal for the past four years.

“I am honored to be named principal of Bryant Elementary this upcoming year. I look forward to continuing to serve Anna ISD by providing educational opportunities and academic excellence for all students. My goal and commitment is to develop strong working relationships with staff and students as well as families and community members.”

Rising Above

Did you know that every year each of our dedicated board members adopts an Anna campus and "Rises Above" by showing their adopted campus extra love and support throughout the year?

Each campus in the district celebrates and recognizes their "adopted" board member for School Board Recognition Month during the January board meeting.

Anna ISD was honored last night to celebrate our board members for "Rising Above" for our district's students, staff, and community!

Thank you for your dedication and service to Anna ISD!
