The People
The population of Lesotho is about 1.9 million people. The two official languages of Lesotho are English and Sesotho. The official religion is Christianity, nearly 80% of the population are Christians. The typical clothing for Lesotho's is western clothing but is usually covered us by a beautiful wool blanket.
Customs
Greetings are usually pretty formal, people shake hands and make small talk.Pointing with your index finger is considered rude and walking down the street holding the hand of someone of the same gender is normal.The Basotho enjoy visitors and before entering a home it is polite to know and say knock knock. Lesotho people have three meals a day and important meals men and guest eat first and woman and children eat the leftovers.
Life Styles
In Lesotho men our usually out of town so woman make decisions and do most of the work. There is pretty much no dating in Lesotho woman will get married but the grooms family has to give money or cattle for the bride. The most popular sport is soccer but some other sports that may be played are volleyball or basketball. New Years Day is an official holiday and at the end of a school year a gradation party is held.
Society
More girls are enrolled in school than boys and girls have higher literacy rates. The transportation consists of buses and unpaved roads. There are not many abundant natural resources. HIV/AIDS are the biggest health concern in Lesotho, 29% of adults have HIV/AIDS.
