Parent Update
Did you know that showing kindness actually helps you experience positive mental and physical changes and reduces stress? It also helps boost self-esteem and creates better leaders through empathy. When we prioritize kindness in our environments, it helps kids feel safe, more confident, and better prepared to form social connections. At KRMS, being KIND is part of our daily school wide behavioral expectations. It is celebrated when seen. We make kindness a priority. We are so thankful for the kind efforts shown to KRMS students so far this year. It has been a busy few weeks here at KRMS with many exciting events coming in the next few weeks.
Halloween is Tuesday October 31st. Students are allowed to wear costumes. We ask that if a student comes to school dressed in costume, they make a donation of a non perishable food item or cash to be used for our Thanksgiving basket fundraiser. Please see the information below for more details about costume expectations.
Friday December 8th marks the official last day of the first trimester with the second trimester beginning on Monday December 11th. Trimester 1 Report cards will be emailed home on Friday December 15th. Here at KRMS we change our exploratory classes each trimester and we also shift the group of students that rotate to their core classes together. Both opportunities allow for students to continue to develop meaningful relationships with their classmates during their educational opportunities.
Thank you everyone for your help with the Believe Kids Fundraiser. The final numbers are in and KRMS earned a profit of almost $6000 that will be evenly distributed amongst teams to use for student activities and trips.
Our KRMS staff will be participating in our annual Turkey basket drive. With turkey donations from local sponsors, we hope to gather enough canned goods to have another successful year for some of our families dealing with food insecurity. More information will be coming out for how to donate to this event.
The holidays can be an exciting time for many, but for some this time of year can also be stressful. If the school can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out. I have attached the GWRSD Holiday resources list at the bottom of this newsletter.
Parent Conferences this year are November 8th & November 9th. Please call the main office or reach out to your child's team leader to sign up for a conference if you have not done so already.
As a reminder, cell phones are NOT allowed during school hours. Cell phones should be off and away in student’s lockers for the entire day, limiting distractions and maximizing learning. Should you need to get in touch with your child, please call the main office and we would be more than happy to get a message to your child or call your child down to use our office phones. PARENTAL SUPPORT WITH THIS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
KRMS Winter-Sports registration closes on November 5th!! We offer the following winter sports here at KRMS: Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, basketball, and cheerleading. Information for registration is below, or you can follow the steps from this website: www.kingswoodathletics.org. Registration closes on November 5th.
I hope this letter finds you well before our approaching holiday season. We have many blessings to be thankful for starting with faculty, staff, students, and community and the sense of family that we have here at KRMS. Thank you for your continued support and collaboration.
Sincerely,
Kerry Hunt
NELMS Student Learnership Conference
On October 19th, 2023 Mr. Pelletier accompanied several students to represent KRMS
at the New England League of Middle Schools (NELMS), Student Leadership
Conference at Southern New Hampshire University. Our students had the opportunity to
work with other middle school representatives from around New England. They engaged in a variety of activities that helped them develop leadership skills that they can utilize to enhance our school, community and beyond. The day was filled with various activities, group challenges and conversations that helped inspire growth. Great job by our student representatives: Jonathan Bronson, Solara Fowler, David Gardner, Mallory Hayford and Aubrey Stout.
