Warhawk Weekly - January 23, 2023
STEP UP TO THE PLATE
The Hall Way...
Hello Warhawks!
This week we have a half day on Thursday, with dismissal at 12:35 pm.
Next week will be the midterm for third quarter. This would be a great time for students to make sure they have all of their work turned in and for them to ask their teachers if they need any help.
Be sure to check out the Save the Date section below as we have many important dates coming up!
Please consider supporting the D200 Education Foundation. They will be holding a virtual silent auction starting January 29. One of the best items up for auction this year is for one of our students to get to be a Northwood PE Teacher for the Day. How fun!!! The D200 Education Foundation has supported many NMS initiatives and projects over the years and we appreciate any support our families could give them. The links and auction information can be found below.
The Warhawk Weekly is our newsletter for families and students. Each week we will share important updates and information. Please contact the school office with any questions and/or concerns you have now or anytime throughout the school year. Together we can provide a positive environment for our students to be successful and to support them to STEP UP TO THE PLATE!

The annual competition challenges students to collect and recycle as much polyethylene (PE) plastic film as possible over a five-month period between America Recycles Day (Nov. 15) and Earth Day (April 22). In addition to earning national recognition, top-performing schools can win high-performance Trex outdoor living products for their campuses, as well as cash prizes to use toward educational programming and supplies. News from the Nurse
Northwood Families,
Just a reminder that if your student requires any medication to be given or used during the school day, a new medication authorization form needs to be completed by a parent/guardian AND health care provider. If your student uses an inhaler or EpiPen and is able to administer those medications to themselves, then a "Self administration form" needs to be completed by both parent/guardian AND health care provider and returned to the health office. Those are the only two medications that a student may give themselves at school, as long as that form is completed and handed in.
Any ordered medications to be dispensed at school can be dropped off by a parent or guardian. The medication must be in the original, labeled, and unopened container, along with the medication authorization form completed. If the medication is over the counter, it still requires an order medication authorization form. Due to cabinet space, we ask that all medication is in a small bottle.
