Affirmative Action

Affirmative action

is an action or poilcy favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimintation. One exmaple of a minority group that this affects, is women.

Women

are often discriminated with their rights against most dominant groups in the U.S.. The goal in affirmative action - to equal distribute the rights and all equality through out the groups who suffer and disolve the issues - will gradually help fueds between such topics as racism, sexism, nationalitism.

Although

it may create racist sentiments in the short term, it prevents racism in the long term. A merit-based system will allow Asians and Indians to garner power. This creates a divide between races, creating racism. Affirmative action surely does some harm, but in the long term it is more beneficial.

There

is no way the United States should be using affirmative action anymore. It may have been necessary at the time of its adoption, but I don't think its doing good anymore. It puts non-minority people at a disadvantage just because they are of minority descent. In order to create a truly color blind society we must stop treating people like race makes them different, no matter which side. It also diminshes the treatments of minorities by saying they need affirmative action to succede.
