2018 SPELLING BEE COMPETITION!
The excitement for the 2018 Snowshoe Spelling Bee is all a BUZZ! The top 3 spellers from each class in grades 3rd-5th were given a list of words to study for the school-wide spelling bee which will be held on February 8th starting at 9:45 a.m.
Our top 3 spellers will receive trophies and prizes, and the spelling bee winner will go on to represent our school in the 2018 Alaska State Spelling Bee in Anchorage! Study those words nightly and GOOD LUCK SPELLERS! We are looking forward to an exciting BEE this year!
WELCOME BACK!
We hope everyone had a restful holiday break. Now it's time to hit the ground running with our 2nd semester! If this goes as fast as our 1st semester did, we will be to our summer break before we know it!
If your address, phone number or email changed over the break, please let us know right away! We don't want you to miss any important dates or events that will be happening before May. Our calendar will be filling up fast so keep us informed so we can keep you informed.
PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES!
FEBRUARY 15, 2018
Conferences are right around the corner! Watch for more information in our next newsletter about parent/teacher conferences.
Our book fair also kicks off on February 7th and goes thru February 15th. Our library will be transformed into a Scholastic Book Fair for everyone to shop in during this time frame. Parents are welcome to come before or afterschool and of course all day on the 15th.
Newsletters
There are many ways to stay up to date with what is happening here at Snowshoe. We want parents to have options because we understand that it's not a one size fits all world out there!
As always our newsletter is available to read on our website at www.matsuk12.us/sse - scroll down to the bottom and begin reading instantly.
Newsletters are sent directly to the email you have on file when registering your child. Keep those up to date!
We also post it on our Snowshoe Facebook page and beginning in February a hard copy will be sent home to parents.
Under Construction!
Head Lice Policy
Our District Head Lice Policy is as follows: If there is a suspected case of head lice, the nurse will exam the student. The student will remain in class and the parent will be notified to use over-the-counter treatment. If the student returns the following day, they must be re-checked by the nurse before going to class. In cases that involve head lice, as in all school health issues, the student's privacy will be protected.
Feel free to give Mrs. Larson a call at 352-9533 if you have any questions or concerns.
Also, if anyone has a diaper genie that they no longer use and would like to donate it to the Pre-school classroom, we would greatly appreciate it. You can drop it off to the nurse or Ms. Fahnlander's classroom in room 1.
