FIRST MASS OF THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR!
St. Viator students enjoyed the first Mass of the new school year, celebrated by Father Rinn and Deacon Mike. Our children's choir was led by music teacher, Mrs. Cheri Scott and violinist alumna, Carolyn Salvador! What a beautiful start to the school year!
8B LEADS FIRST PRAYER & FLAG!
On August 29, the 8B classroom led our school’s first prayer and flag. The students in this class, researched the History of St. Viator, the Viatorians, and St. Viator Parish School. They also shared what the elements of our school that are most meaningful to them. Thank you 8B for starting out our year with our school’s namesake and mission in mind!

OPEN GYM BASKETBALL for 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Boys
To: St. Viator’s 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Boys
From: Mark Dreschler
Re: Basketball Open Gym
As I have done for many years, I am inviting any 6/7/8 grade boys interested in playing basketball to the School’s gym on Sunday, September 11 and 18th from 1-2pm for an open gym to play basketball. This is your time to play and work on your game.
This gives me the opportunity to discuss what skills I look for and for me to get to know you.
Of course, this is NOT mandatory and you do not have to be trying out for the school team to have some fun and get into some games with your classmates.

Congratulations to you! The kids are back to school, schedules are underway, and the year is off to a great start. Now here’s the next step – take care of you! Sounds strange right? When we are child-centered, it seems counterintuitive to take care of ourselves. However, if we don’t put on our own oxygen mask, how can we help our children learn to put on their own? Cliché? Yes, but there is so much truth behind this concept. And what does the oxygen mask represent? It represents a million small things that make our lives better and help us to function at higher levels for ourselves and for our children. It might mean waking up ten minutes earlier than the kiddos to have some quiet time for yourself, it might mean scheduling a workout for yourself so you can relieve stress, it might mean taking a walk each evening to relax (even if the kids tag along), maybe it’s as simple as playing YOUR favorite song on the way to school each morning.
Whatever the oxygen mask represents in your life, DO it. This is one way in which we are of service to our children and to others. WE make time for ourselves and make ourselves a priority as well. You and your students will be better for it. And BONUS, you teach them to put on their masks as well. Finding a balance between your own needs and your child’s needs is a journey well worth taking. Until next time!

FACTS MANAGEMENT UPDATE
We are no longer using Plus Portals to check your students grades. This year we will be using FACTS management. Be on the lookout, after Labor Day, for information on how to login to the parent portal to check grades, send messages to teachers, fill out medical information and much more. Please be patient with us as we are learning this wonderful system as well.
IF YOU ARE LATE TO SCHOOL...
We understand! Traffic happens occasionally... backpacks are left at home...alarms forget to chime.
School starts promptly at 7:45 am for Gr. 4-8 students and 8:00 am for PK through 3rd grade. If your child is consistently late or picked up early, they are missing valuable instruction time. Please consult our school website and Parent-Student handbook concerning attendance policies.
On a Mass day, students who are tardy will need to be walked into the office, drop off backpack, and walked by parents to church. Mass starts at 8:15 AM on Wednesdays.
NEW DISMISSAL PROCEDURE
Beginning Tuesday, parents in grades K-3 will be permitted onto the campus to pick up their children. Please park in the church lot, the East gate will be open at 2:40pm. All parents need to carry their family placard to show to the staff member assigned to the gate. Any family that forgets this will need to go to the office for ID verification before gaining access to the campus. Thank you and please reach out with any questions your family may have.
