PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Liberty Park Families,
We have a busy week coming up at Liberty Park! Monday evening is our Veteran's Day program that begins at 6pm. We hope that our LP veteran's are able to join us for our 4th grade performance. Thursday is also our PTA's Family Movie Night! Our 3rd grade families are invited to learn more about ILEARN, IREAD, and our annual Zoo trip at 5:30pm in the media center. Our district leaders will also be present to share the strategic plan for the future in Warren Township schools. Students will also be bringing home 2nd quarter progress reports on Wednesday. We are so proud of the growth of our students so far this semester!
I hope that you and your family have a great weekend and as always, I thank you for your continued support of Liberty Park Elementary!
Your Principal,
Jason Brooks
Message from Dr. Hanson
Dear Warren Families,
Our goal in MSD Warren Township is to provide a safe and high quality educational experience. As you may have heard, Tuesday, November 19 has been designated as Red for Ed Action Day in Indiana by the Indiana State Teachers Association. At their most recent public meeting, the MSD of Warren Township Board of Education approved the recommendation to cancel school on Tuesday, November 19 in support of Warren Township teachers and staff participating in the Red For Ed Action Day at the Indiana Statehouse with colleagues from around the state. The MSD of Warren Township and the Board is supporting our staff participating in this event to improve conditions for Indiana teachers as well as to advocate for our students, our schools, and our community. By cancelling school on November 19th, we believe this supports our district goal of providing a safe and high quality educational experience both short term and into the future. Further, the Board approved the utilization of our flex day on Friday, May 22nd as the designated make up day for canceling school on November 19th. School and district offices will be open on November 19th.
We recognize that not having school will create challenges for some of our families. We will be providing lunch to all MSD Warren Township students at no charge; the host sites serving will be the three intermediate middle schools from 11:00 - 1:00. We are working with the YMCA and Boys and Girls Club to provide opportunities for those families who need supervision for their child. Please monitor our digital app and district website for additional information that may be distributed regarding student activities and services available on November 19th. We are communicating this as early as possible to provide families with an opportunity to plan for the closure on November 19th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for supporting our teachers and staff and the great work they do each day in our classrooms and community for our students.

Meet a New LP Patriot!
Candice Sample - 3rd Grade
I’m very excited to join the Liberty Park team for my 21st year of teaching! I started my teaching career in Ohio. I enjoyed teaching English in Japan for 15 months. I taught at Brookview Elementary for the last 16 years. I have 3 children ages 15, 10, and 3. They keep me young and in tune with what kids these days enjoy. I love traveling, watching movies, shopping, and spending time with my family.
Thank you for sharing your children with us each day!
Family Movie Night
Our PTA is putting on another great Family Movie Night on Thursday, November 14th. Parents will also have the opportunity to provide input on the future of Warren Schools for our 2020-2025 Strategic Plan.
From your PTA!
Hello parents! We are off to a great start this school year. We have 2 events coming up that we need volunteers for.
1. Family Movie Night-Next Thursday, Nov. 14th-We need parents to help pass out food before the movie starts (6pm-6:45pm)
2. Holly Jolly Festival-Dec. 6th (6p-9p)-We need help decorating the school in the evenings leading up to the event, help setting up the day of the event and help during the event.
If you can help with either of these events, we would greatly appreciate it. Please e-mail us back and let us know (even if it is only for an hour-we can use ALL hands!)
Thank you so much,
Shelly Hall
LP PTA President

Warren's High Ability Program is designed to meet the unique academic needs of gifted and talented students. The curriculum in these classes is differentiated and faster paced and students will be working above grade level if they qualify. As a district, we look at all students in grades 1, 4, 6 and 8 to see if they qualify for the following school year based on eligibility criteria. Parent recommendations are considered along with achievement scores when determining placement in high ability. More detailed identification information can be found here. If you would like to complete a recommendation for the broad based planning committee to consider you can do so here 2020-2021 High Ability Parent Recommendation Form The parent recommendation form will be open until January 31, 2020.
AM Drop Off: Students should not be dropped off in the front of school until the 7:55am bell. In efforts to keep all students safe, kids should remain in vehicles until the bell.
- Birthday Treat Policy: All MSD Warren Schools have aligned their birthday celebration policies to the district’s wellness policy. As part of our efforts towards health and wellness, we follow a “no birthday treats” guideline.
- Visitors Background Checks: Volunteers must have a valid background check on file in the front office as well as be included on a students emergency contact form for any type of school volunteer opportunities. If you would like to complete this process or have any questions please stop by our front office.
- Student Absences: If your child is ill and will not be at school, please call the front office at 532-1850 or use your School Dismissal Manager App to report his/her absence. Please call and report if your child will be arriving late to school due to a doctor’s appointment. Doing so helps us to know that your child is safe and with you.
