Principal's Message
Welcome to Term 4. I hope you had an amazing break and took some time out to spend some quality time with loved ones. It was a quiet one for me, spending some time spring cleaning and enjoying those sunny days with my family.
You may have noticed a new LED sign near the carpark on Mason St. It was installed during the holidays and I am excited to see it up and running soon. We are just waiting for power to be connected to it. Once completed, we'll be able to share school news and events.
You've shared your thoughts and we've listened. I have organised a Whole School Excursion to Hoyts Cinemas on Monday November 28th so all students and staff can go and enjoy a movie together as part of our end of year celebrations. More information and permission forms will be sent home closer to the date.
We also get to meet our 2023 Preps this term, with 6 transition sessions organised. These sessions will enable our new students, and their families, to become familiar with the school grounds, facilities, routines and community.
Your feedback is important to us, so please reach out if you have any ideas on what you would like to see happening at CHPS. Remember the best feedback is strength-based. Happy to hear your thoughts about what we are doing well and what are our opportunities for growth.
Have a wonderful week!
Susie Bellizia - Acting Principal
Prep 2023 Transition Sessions
Is your child starting Prep in 2023?
Please see the attached document for more information about our upcoming transition sessions.
Not returning in 2023?
As Term 4 gets underway, it is also a time we start looking at grades and structures for next year.
As sad as it would be to see you go, it would be useful for us to know if your child is not returning to CHPS for the 2023 school year. Grade 6s do not need to fill this form in.
Please fill in the online form if your child is not returning for 2023: https://forms.gle/2dhZpropCecLZoHf8
Grade 6 2023 Polos and Hoodies - Order Online by 23rd October 2022
This year's Grade 5s would have received the following information regarding their Grade 6 Polos and Hoodies. Please remember to put your order in by the due date so your child doesn't miss out. We have some sample sizes at the school if you would like to try before you buy. If you need any help with the online ordering system, please contact the school.
What's happening at the CHPS Community Hub?
There are so many wonderful things happening in our Community Hub.
Please contact Eliza, our Community Hub Coordinator, if you would like more information.
Student Attendance
Dear Families,
Last term we had a large number of student absences. With everything that has happened over the last few years, CHPS is dedicated to ensuring our students are at school every day. We understand that there are times when children have reasonable excuses for not being at school (medical, appointments, religious, holidays), however sometimes there may be other reasons that make it difficult for children to attend. Please note if your child has an increased number of absences due to medical reasons we ask that a medical certificate is provided to the school for this to be deemed a reasonable excuse for absence.
When children miss school regularly,
- they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school
- puts them behind, and can affect their educational outcomes
- may have lower achievement in numeracy, writing and reading
- may put them at risk both socially and emotionally
Did you know that if your child misses just 1 day every 2 weeks over their entire schooling life they would have missed 1.5 years of learning. – THIS IS WHY EVERY DAY COUNTS
As a parent/carer it is your legal obligation to ensure your children attend school. Please note we are obligated to report any chronic absence concerns to Department of Education & Training – School Attendance Officers. This can lead to the Department of Education & Training issuing infringements/fines if they feel your obligations have not been met. This report can be made after 5 unexplained absences.
As we do not want this to occur and want to support our families, could you please contact Ms Maritsa Rousalis – Student Engagement & Well Being Leader to discuss this further and see if there is any way we can support your child to be at school more often.
CHPS BUCKET HATS ARE BACK
A friendly reminder that students will need to wear their CHPS bucket hats when outdoors in Term 4.
We do have bucket hats available to purchase from the office. As per our uniform policy, buckets hats must have the school logo.
