Wednesday - After reading Skidamarink, display a suitcase and say I am going on a trip to visit my grandparents. I need to pack my suitcase. I will be gone for 2 days. What do I need to pack? Write children's suggestions on chart paper.



Thursday - Listen/Sing the song Over in the Meadow. Discuss the habitat, or animal home, for each animal in the song. Look at/discuss the photo cards for today.


Friday - Discuss the tree house. It's an unusual home. Unusual means something we don't see very often. Other unusual homes are tents and small travel trailers.


Recall Reagan's journal story about camping.

Daddy always said that he ad I would go camping when I turned 4 years old. Now I am four years old. Last weekend we went to the state park and pitched a tent. That means we set up the frame, popped up our tent, and zipped it closed. That's where we slept. The sleeping bags were inside, and the tent was zipped tight to keep out the bugs. I like to look at bugs with a magnifying glass, but I don't want them in the tent sleeping with me.


We cooked hot dogs and s'mores. Have you ever made s'mores? They are a sweet sandwich made with graham crackers, chocolate candy, and marshmallows that we cooked over the fire. They sure tasted good, but my hands were all sticky. Daddy says eating s'mores is a tradition in our family. When he was a little boy, he used to roast marshmallows and eat s'mores with his daddy and mommy. I like traditions.
