The Weekly Hoot
May 16-22, 2016
Greetings All -
Happy Friday! It's a busy day with Reading Goal Parties and the Movin' On Up Dance tonight! As always, May is the busiest month of the year at school, but it seems so much more so now that testing has been put into the mix!
I want to thank every single person in this school for an outstanding week of testing. My hat is off to everyone for making sure it all went off without a hitch. Amberly Kolby, you absolutely rock as our Campus Testing Coordinator!! You make hours of work seem effortless, and you handle putting out fires with a smile on your face!! Thank you always for being a calming presence. It is much recognized and much appreciated.
Our Special Education Life Skills position has been filled by a young Aggie graduate named Hannah Whitford. Hannah did her student teaching in College Station ISD. She has done volunteer work at the TAMU Autism Clinic and as a Behavior Therapist at the Autism Clinic associated with the Brazos Valley Rehabilitation Center. We look forward to working with Hannah next year as she joins our team.
I will be working next week on a schedule of when rooms will be moved this summer. I am completely fine if you start moving items that can be stored in cabinets (IF IT OKAY WITH THE PERSON WHOSE ROOM YOU ARE MOVING INTO!!), :) but please do not move any furniture. We will be doing that this summer based on the floor waxing schedule. Also, please remember to put in some area of your room all of the grade level specific curriculum resources, book sets, and manipulatives that came with your room or were bought with school budget money. When you are ready for us to come and inspect those things, please let me know.
Milissa Walla has put a survey in your box. It is from the Brazos Valley Food Bank and is related to the Backpack program. Please fill that out ASAP and put it back in her box. Our school and Nurse Walla receive a "grade" on our backpack program based on these surveys. Thank you!
I had the chance to meet both the new High School Principal, Chase Thomas, and the new Superintendent, Scott Beene, and his family this week. Both seem like they are a great fit for the district and genuinely excited about being here. I am excited about both new hires and looking forward to working with both of them.
Please make sure you are reading your emails on a twice daily basis because things are getting hectic and that is the best way for me to communicate with you from now on.
Everyone have a great week! Go out and enjoy yourselves! I think we just started the weekend off with a great sendoff for our Varsity Baseball boys!!!
Love,
Marcy
Owl Wings This Week Go To...
Karrie Cooper for finishing up all of our testing on a Friday!! No one really wants to still be testing on a Friday, but we appreciate your efforts in getting it done. :)
Sandi Sexton for having the students make great posters for the Senior Walk! I know the older kids are going to love them!
Joanna Sorenson for keeping our campus FB page updated! You do a terrific job of it, and I am sure the parents and community appreciate it greatly.
