Carpool Update
Thank you for your survey responses. It looks like there was enough interest to schedule a larger community meeting, so stand by on dates and times as the PTA coordinates that.
Survey respondents offered constructive feedback that we will incorporate into the conversation. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughtful comments.
As a reminder, you can still help solve the delays by doing one of the following:
- Take the bus in the morning - if you are not already registered for a Wake County Public Schools bus stop, here is the link to facilitate that process.
- Walking isn't just for Wednesday - As the spring weather gets nicer, consider walking to school from your neighborhood or driving and parking at Kelly Road Park (NOT THE PUBLIX SHOPPING CENTER OR THE PHYSICAL THERAPY OFFICE ACROSS KELLY ROAD) and walk from Kelly Road Park.
- Share the Ride - Coordinate with your neighbors and fill the available seats in your vehicle to cut down on the number of cars using carpool.
As always, if you have other comments or questions about this carpool issue, email the PTA at oce.pta@gmail.com.
ALL HANDS ON DECK
Recycling Program Chair Needed
Mr. Derr has requested a parent to spearhead the program in order to coordinate the students and teachers.
The plan is for students to collect and empty the bins once a week and deliver the recycling to Mr. Derr in the receiving room. He will take care of the details from there. This program will start next school year in August/September, though there is an initial meeting with the head of the county recycling program on March 27th.
If you are interested in being a lead on this program here at OCE, please contact oce.pta@gmail.com for more information.
TREASURE CHEST
Spring Book Fair Opens Monday!
The Book Fair starts on Monday! It will be open from 8:30-4:00 daily!
We desperately need volunteers to make it successful. Please consider volunteering for an open slot (or more!). All help is welcome, even if you can only do one 30 minute shift.
Special Book Fair events:
- Grandparents Breakfast for Tracks 2 and 4 is Thursday, March 28 from 8-9. Visit the Book Fair after breakfast and before school.
- New this year: The book fair will be open for families to visit together on Thursday, March 28 from 4:30-6pm!
Finally, avoid the hassle of sending cash or checks this year! There is a convenient way to pay for books by putting money on your child's e-wallet account. Here is a video clip explaining it. Look for instructions coming home on the back of your child's wish list.
