Principal's Message
Dear Dolvin Families –
Phase 1 reopening starts on Tuesday, September 8th!
Phase 1 re-opening focuses on students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades and allows for small groups of students to return to Dolvin for a 90-minute period one day a week. While this phase is optional, it does provide an opportunity for students and teachers to make face-to-face connections, build relationships and become familiar with routines and safety protocols. Students and staff are required to wear a mask.
The district has provided guidance related to which students come on each day.
Kindergarten, 1st , and 2nd grade students with last names starting:
• A-E…Monday
• F-K…Tuesday
• L-P…Thursday
• Q-Z…Friday
There are two possible sessions each day: either 7:40am-9:10am or 10:40am-12:10pm. You may drive your child to school or let them take the bus. Bus information will be provided next week, and I may have additional information at that time as well. There will not be a lunch time at school on these days, but students will be provided with a snack.
While getting acquainted or reacquainted to a school setting is the primary goal, Phase 1 will also give our teachers time to work with children in small learning groups.
Below are some of the safety protocols that we will have in place. It is requested that families check their child’s temperature before leaving for school.
• Classrooms will be sanitized between visits.
• Masks are required for all.
• Social Distancing will be practiced.
• Washing of hands.
• Students will be assisted in getting to their classrooms.
• There will be random temperature checks.
Phase 1 for students in grades 3, 4, and 5 provides an opportunity for tutoring, mentoring, and so on. Students have the option to schedule one-on-one time with the teacher or school counselor as needed – (either virtually or face-to-face) appointments will be made through the requested staff member. No transportation is provided for students in grades 3-5.
For parents of children in Kindergarten, first, and second grades ONLY:
Please complete this survey to help us plan for our Phase 1 re-opening. Complete one form for each Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade child. The survey will close on SUNDAY, AUGUST 30th at 11:59 pm as we will need to provide the information to the transportation department on Monday.
Also, parents, we will be having our Curriculum Night on September 10th. Similar to our Sneak Peek, it will be a recorded event. More details will be shared as we get closer to the date.
And, finally, a special thank you to the Dolvin PTA for kicking off our year in such a positive way! They decorated our school (inside and out) for the staff’s return and provided us with a delicious staff lunch. We appreciate you, parents!
Your proud principal,
Karen Cooke
