The beginning of Texas state
Texas State was established in 1899, and opened up its doors to students in 1903. It started as Southwest Texas State Normal School.
The name of the college was changed FOUR times before it stuck as Texas State University.

The alumni house is one of the oldest buildings on campus. It was built in 1896 and is in the heart of the campus.
