From Ms. Butler's Desk (9/11 Reflection)
All adults remember where we were when this Flashbulb moment took place. However, none of our scholars have the same feeling or emotion tied to 9/11 as we do. This is always a sensitive topic to approach with our scholars. I found a short film by BrainPop that does a great job of sharing the events that took place on 9/11 in a very gentle way. It also has some additional activities that you can share with your scholar. Please share your memories with your child and let us not forget the lives that were lost, the bravery of the first responders, our military personnel that defended our country in the aftermath, and the way America came together during this time of tragedy. Never Forget!!

PTO Spirit Night
On Wednesday, September 15th the delicious and generous MOD Pizza (6777 Woodlands Parkway) is donating back 20% of Takeout, Delivery & Pick up orders to support a great cause -- The Woodlands Classical Academy!
On behalf of The Woodlands Classical Academy, you’re invited to join us and eat out, not only in support of the organization but to show one of your
The Woodlands restaurants some love too!
We need a minimum of 20 RSVPs, so we ask you to confirm your attendance here: https://grouprai.se/e194701 (even if you’re not completely sure). This also helps MOD Pizza know roughly how many orders to expect & gives you access to all the event details.
We hope you can make it, and please feel free to forward this invitation to your friends and family. Thanks in advance for your support!
This week, we will begin tutoring scholars who have fallen behind on their school work since the beginning of the year. More information regarding tutoring will be sent home later this week.

Character Education
This week we have started a new section of our newsletter, Character Education. During the month of September we will be discussing Self-Control (RES Virtue of the Month), Habit 1: Be Proactive (Stephen Covey's "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People", and 100% Accountability (7 Mindsets SEL curriculum). Please take a moment to share this section with your scholar. These 3 topics go hand-in-hand and will be taught on campus during the entire month of September.
2021-2022 Socioeconomic Information Form (Due Now)
Responsive Education Solutions is required to collect and report the socioeconomic status of each student to the Texas Education Agency for purposes of the annual state accountability ratings and for federal reporting. Please note that this form is not sent to the Texas Education Agency and that the income levels indicated for your family are not reported to the Texas Education Agency. Only the Economic Disadvantaged status of each student as determined by the information provided is reported to the Texas Education Agency.
It is very important that families complete this Socioeconomic Form in order for schools to receive Title I and State Compensatory Education funding. This funding may directly benefit your child's school. Title I and State Compensatory Education funding can be used to hire personnel, provide tutoring services, order technology, and provide professional development for teachers. We want to continue to provide these necessary learning supports, but without your assistance, we may not be able to. Please click the link below to complete the 2021-2022 Socio-Economic Form.
If you have read the intent of the 2021 - 2022 Socioeconomic Form collection (as described above) and wishes to opt-out of completing it. Please complete the opt-out form below:
If you have the paper copy that was sent home to you and you have not returned it, please do so by Friday, September 17. If you have completed this task, thank you in advance for your compliance.
Doctor’s Note after an Absence for Illness
If your child is out due to an illness that extends beyond three days will require a doctor’s note. Upon return to school, a student absent for more than three consecutive days because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s extended absence from school. Otherwise, the student’s absence may be considered unexcused and if so, would be in violation of compulsory attendance laws.
Parent Volunteers During Lunch and Carline
Due to the heat index and limited space, teachers in the elementary building are eating lunches more frequently in the classroom. I'm looking for parent volunteers to assist in giving teachers a break during lunchtime. Also, we are always in need of help in the morning and afternoons for carline. Scholars love to see the parents helping out during the day.
Before you can volunteer, you must complete the Volunteer Background check. All volunteers work through PTO (thewoodlandsclassicalpto@gmail.com). Thank you in advance for your help!!!
Ibiley Uniforms Response & Dress Code for Scholars without Ibiley Uniforms
My team and I have received numerous emails regarding customer service issues with Ibiley. I would like to ensure that your concerns have been addressed. I definitely understand how very frustrated you are at this time and know that I'm trying to mediate the issue between parents and Ibiley as expeditiously as possible. In order to provide the best assistance from you, please complete the Google Form below. This will allow me to send one document to Ibiley and for me to get feedback from the company. As of 9/11/21 at 10:30 am, we have received 43 concerns via our Google Form. Also, if you do not have all the information needed to complete the form, please provide as much information as possible. If you don't have an answer to a question, please but N/A in the box. Once again, I apologize for the delayed response and hope to have an answer from Ibiley soon.
Dress Code Update
Due to this unfortunate delay with uniforms from Ibiley, I do have a temporary solution for our uniforms:
- Scholars can wear their uniforms from Fully Promoted.
- Scholars can wear a combination of Fully Promoted and Ibiley Uniforms.
- Scholars can wear a combination of Fully Promoted and Ibliey Uniforms with burgundy or gray polo tops and/or black or khaki skirts, shorts, or pants.
- Scholars can wear burgundy or gray polo tops with black or khaki skirts, shorts, or pants.
- Scholars can wear their blue or burgundy logo cardigan sweater or jacket inside of the building.
- Scholars can wear a plain burgundy, white, black, or gray cardigan sweater or jacket. No Hoodies of any kind allowed.
- Scholars can wear black, white, gray, or maroon shoes with 10% of another color. Light-up shoes or shoes with wheels are not allowed. All shoes must have an athletic bottom.
This new dress code will go into full effect on September 20. The hoodie rule will be in effect Monday morning.
School Dismissal Manager--Update
We are now utilizing SDM for our school dismissal and office management needs. A few logistical items have come to our attention that I would like to discuss in this post:
- I can't find the SDM App: Many parents are looking for the SDM app in Google Play or Apple Store. You have to download the app from schooldismissalmanager.com. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the front office.
- When Do I Check into SDM: Beginning at 3:25 pm parents can begin logging in to SDM. You will get a blue parent self-check-in button within your accounts to select and check in from. Elementary Check-In: Starting this week, parents should check-in when they arrive at the walkway area of the parking lot. This is the pathway that leads to the elementary building or the gated entrance to the back of the Junior High Building. This is where we block off the parking lot for PE. This will reduce the amount of time your scholar has to wait to be picked up.
- Do I have to use SDM to Pick Up my Child: Yes! In order to keep our carline moving efficiently, it is imperative that ALL parents utilize the SDM system.
- How Does SDM Work for Pick Up: When you check-in to the system, your child's teacher receives an alert that it is time for them to be dismissed. Your child's teacher can dismiss the child or give an alert that they will be delayed (restroom, accident, etc.). The check-in admin in the parking lot receives the alert for check-in and the status of your scholar. Once your child is outside, they are directed to the cone.
- Will we receive new car signs: Yes, you will be receiving new car signs. In order to complete receive all necessary car signs as efficiently as possible, ALL Parents need to sign in and set up their SDM System by Tuesday Morning. We print signs on Tuesday morning for distribution to scholars. ALL DESIGNATED Persons (parents, grandparents, guardians, carpool, aunts, uncles, siblings, friends, etc.) must have a designated tag for your scholar. This is to ensure that you have given this person the right to pick up your child. We want to ensure safety and security on our campus. For additional support, please see the SDM Car Line Dismissal PDF attached below.
- What else can I do with SDM: You can notify the campus that you are arriving after 8:00 am (Late-Arrival), Change to Dismissal Transportation (from daycare to carline), reporting absences, and check out your child early (Early Check-Out, Not Returning to Campus). These are items that you traditionally would have to call the office to change. SDM allows you to make the changes from the website or app and the office will get an instant notification.
- I don't have my credentials: Parent credentials were sent out on Sunday, August 29, 2021. If you did not receive your credentials, please email Mrs. Lucas at klucas@responsiveedtx.com or give us a call at 936-242-1541. You can call us over the weekend and leave a message and we will get you set up on Monday morning.
- I need additional help: Below I have attached a Parent Quick Reference Guide. Also, remember to reference the Frequently Asked Questions (Parent FAQ) link next to the login area on the website for quick answers to your questions. To view this guide any time, click on Quick Start Guide in your app menu, or if you would prefer to view a video, click on Quick Start Video in your app menu. If you cannot find the answer to your questions in SDM's documentation or videos, click on Get Help in the app menu to send an email directly to the school office staff.
Sincerely,
Roxana Butler.
Oh No!!! I didn't Get My Spirit Shirt
We are still waiting for the remaining sprirt shirts. I drove to meet with our supplier and he explained they are in UPS's possession. However, the recent hurricane slowed transportation from North Carolina. As soon as they arrive, he will print the shirts and I will pick them up. I will do my best to keep everyone informed of any new information. Thank you for your grace and patience.
Sincerely,
Samantha Askins

Volunteer Applications
We love parent volunteers at TWCA. In order to volunteer on our campus, attend school-sponsored field trips, or be actively involved with our PTO, parents must complete a volunteer application (see the link below this post).
Volunteers are needed from 7:30 am-4:10 pm each school day and various hours on field trips or other special days.
All volunteers work through The Woodlands Classical PTO.
Your service as a volunteer in our school is greatly appreciated. In your association with teachers and students, you may have access to student information that is not to be shared or discussed with anyone other than designated personnel.
Confidentiality is of the utmost importance in your work with teachers and students. You may not discuss matters about a child with anyone, not even that child’s parents/guardians; nor are you to contact parents/guardians regarding the behavior or performance of students. You must always refer questions regarding students to the student’s teacher or a school administrator. If you need help with a student, discuss the matter professionally with the child’s teacher, administrator, or other designated school official.
It is required that you acknowledge your intent to fulfill this responsibility by completing this Volunteer Application.
- I will not discuss or answer questions with others, when serving as a volunteer, or when no longer in a volunteer role, about the content of any confidential student information which was learned in the course of, or because of, my work in the school. Nor will I disclose or permit to be disclosed, directly or indirectly, student education records, personally identifiable student information in such records, or other confidential information regarding any student. Exceptions to this rule include my ability to discuss student information with designated faculty or staff members and/or as authorized by the administration.
- The confidentiality of student information shall include, but is not limited to, these topics:
- Academic standing, including student grades and test scores;
- Attendance;
- Financial status;
- Physical/mental health identity and history;
- Disciplinary status/records.
- I further understand that, in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act, that any “education records” (generally defined as “those records, files, documents, and other materials which contain information directly related to a student; and are maintained by an educational agency or institution or by a person acting for such agency or institution”) cannot be released, except as enumerated in law, without parent/guardian permission.
- As a volunteer, I understand that I am not authorized to examine, release or comment on student records/information unless expressly authorized by school official in accordance with applicable law.
- While in the possession and control of confidential student data, I understand that I must protect those documents from being viewed or obtained by non-authorized individuals.
- I will never take any confidential student data off-campus unless authorized by a school administrator or his designee.
- Concerns or questions regarding student records or issues of confidentiality should be brought to the attention of the school administrator and/or faculty or staff member that supervises the volunteer.
- I must report any breach or suspected breach in this confidentiality agreement to the building administrator or his designee.
Volunteers at ResponsiveEd Schools shall perform tasks only under the supervision and guidance of appropriate faculty and staff, and are expected to comply with all district rules and regulations. Violation of these guidelines may constitute cause for termination of the volunteer’s services. The Campus Administrator or his designee is responsible for decisions concerning the continuation or discontinuance of a volunteer’s activities.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our front office at 936-242-1541. If you would like to volunteer, reach out to our PTO president, Mrs. Samantha Askins, at thewoodlandsclassicalpto@gmail.com
