Worthington Kilbourne Weekly News
Week of October 25, 2021
Our school is going through an upgrade with our display monitors in every classroom. Some rooms have projectors, some have older display monitors, and some are without either. This project will help standardize the classroom experience and provide teachers with similar technology regardless of the room they are using. The district's technology department is in the middle of installing a new, large display monitor that is 75". Approximately 15 rooms have been completed and the rest will receive them in the coming days.
This change will reduce the cost of keeping projectors functioning properly and the display on the monitor is more vibrant because the image isn't distorted by space. This learning tool will increase functionality in the classroom and learning will increase as a result.
We are excited for these changes and thankful to have a school community that supports teaching and learning and the tools that are needed to keep our students competitive.
Sincerely,
Aric Thomas, Principal / athomas@wscloud.org / 614-450-6400

Guidelines from the Health Office: When to keep a student home from school
As we return to a normal schedule with all students attending school daily it is extremely important NOT to send your student to school if they are sick and not feeling well. A daily health check is required for parents and students to complete each morning prior to school.

A message from Principal Thomas
We thank you and your family for being our valued partners as we work together to educate the children in our district. As you may already be aware, building our well-being and social-emotional learning skills is an important goal for our school this year and every year. Over the next few weeks, students will participate in several exercises to better understand these concepts and to reflect on how they perceive these skills in themselves.
As we have done for the last four years, we will be asking your child to reflect on his/her own mindsets and approaches to learning via an online survey. The survey shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes to complete and will be administered during a two-week window from November 8 - November 19, 2021.
We are partnering with Panorama Education, a third-party vendor, to support us in administering these surveys. The survey content will ask students in grades 3-12 to self-reflect on School Safety, Teacher-Student Relationships, Sense of Belonging, Rigorous Expectations, and Self-Efficacy. Additionally, our students in grades 6-12 will also be asked to self-reflect on two additional topics; Diversity and Inclusion and Cultural Awareness.
Student voice matters to us and their responses will provide invaluable insights into their experiences and how we can improve and adapt our instruction to meet their needs. If a student doesn’t feel like they have enough information to answer a question, they will be able to skip the item altogether.
If you have any questions about the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) survey, please don’t hesitate to contact us in the office at 614-450-6400.
Respectfully,
Aric Thomas, Principal
